Syracuse university Launchesโข Annual Coat Drive, Operation Orange Warmup
Syracuse, โNY – Syracuse University’s annual operation Orange Warmup coat drive is underway,โข offering multiple ways for the campusโ and wider Syracuse community โto โฃdonate winter coats and support those in need. The initiative,a partnership with InterFaith Works,aims to provide โฃwarmโฃ clothing toโข students and families throughout โขcentral new York as winter approaches.
Since itsโ inception in โ2022, Operation Orange Warmup has collected hundreds of coats.โค This year’sโค drive, organized by the Office of Community Engagement, kicked off during the Saturday, Oct. 18,โ home football game โขagainst the University of Pittsburgh atโฃ the โJMA Wireless Domeโ and continues withโ a campuswideโข collection through Friday, Oct.โ 24.
“It’s inspiring to see campus groups come together each year to make aโ difference. Ourโ partnership with InterFaith Works allows us toโค extend this support beyond campus to help ourโฃ neighbors throughout Syracuseโค as well,” said โขa University spokesperson.
Donationsโ can be โmade in several โคways: at the โOct. โฃ18 football game via bins at โฃgates A,B,C,D,E,F,Mโข and โN; on โcampus at Hendricks Chapel,the Schine Student Center,goldstein โขStudent Center,and the Nancy Cantor Warehouse from Oct. 20-24; or online through the โฃInterFaith Works wishlist on Amazon.
“Our faculty, staff and โฃstudents make a significant impact โon โcampus and in our โฃcommunity whenโ they all come together forโ a โคcause,” says Jake Losowski, associateโ director of community engagement. “Whether donating a gently used coat, purchasing aโ new coat or volunteering, โthere is โขan possibility forโ anyone who wants to make a difference to getโ involved.”
JMA Dome staff โฃwill launder donated coats, โฃand all children’s coats collected will be donated directlyโ to InterFaith Works. Students interested in volunteering atโฃ the Oct. 18 football game can register via a form โฃon the Syracuse University website.โฃ
Aโ coat selection event forโ students in need willโ be held on โขWednesday,โ Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 308 at the Barnes Center atโฃ The Arch; โฃRSVP is required.
