Renault achieved a 10% increase in global passenger car sales in 2025, selling 1,292,000 units, according to a press release issued January 20, 2026. This growth marks the third consecutive year of sales increases for the brand, bringing total vehicle sales – including light commercial vehicles – to 1,628,030, a 3.2% rise compared to 2024.

The company attributes the success to its ongoing electrification strategy and a focus on value. Electrified vehicles – encompassing electric, full hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models – now account for 60% of Renault’s passenger car sales in Europe, a 12 percentage point increase year-over-year. This shift has positioned Renault among the leaders in reducing CO₂ emissions in Europe, with average emissions falling below 90g CO₂.

In Europe, Renault’s passenger car sales grew by 7.4%. The brand has moved up to the number two position in the European market when considering both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Outside of Europe, Renault experienced an 11.7% increase in sales, solidifying its position as the leading French automotive brand globally.

Ivan Segal, Global Sales and Operations Director of the Renault brand, stated that the results demonstrate the “strength and consistency” of the company’s strategy. He added that the combination of growth in Europe and international expansion drove the “sustainable performance” of the brand in 2025.

The Renault Clio was identified as a sales champion in Europe, with 130,450 units sold, narrowly outpacing its sister model, the Dacia Sandero, which sold 129,840 units. The Peugeot 208 from Stellantis followed with 115,700 units sold.

First-half sales data for the Renault Group as a whole also showed an increase of 1.3% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 1,169,773 vehicles sold. The Renault brand specifically saw a 16.3% increase internationally during the first half of 2025.
