Dallas Woman Arrestedโค in Connection to Fatal Shooting Following Dispute Over Common Courtesy
DALLAS, TX – โฃA Dallas woman is facing a murder charge after a verbal altercation stemming from a perceived lack โof gratitudeโ escalated into a fatal shooting in a shopping โฃcenter parking lot Tuesday evening, according to Dallas Police Department affidavits. The incident began with a disagreement overโฃ a simple “thank you” afterโค the suspect, identified as Hampton, exited a Five Below store.
The initial confrontation occurred when the victim, Simpson,โ held the door open โขfor โHampton as she left Five Below butโข was reportedly upset when Hamptonโ did not express thanks. This sparked a verbal dispute that followed the two women to a nearby PetSmart, where employees eventually asked โคthem to leave.
The argument continued โฃin the shopping center parking lot, where Hampton allegedly threw โa drink bottle at SimpsonS vehicle.As Simpson approached Hampton to โcontinue the argument, a physical fight ensued. According to a witness, Simpson struck Hampton โขseveral timesโข while telling her to leave.โค
The situation โturned deadly when Hampton allegedly produced a black and silver handgun โฃand fired three shots, striking Simpson, who then collapsed.
Police quickly located Hampton’s vehicle, a black 2005 Ford 500 with visible damage, at an apartment complex on John West Road. officers arrested Hampton around 7:45 โคp.m. Tuesday on Trailโข Glen Drive.
During an interview withโ detectives, โHampton admitted to the verbalโฃ dispute, entering PetSmart โtwice, throwing the drink bottle, fighting withโ Simpson, โคand ultimately shooting her. โฃHampton reportedlyโ told investigators she was “just trying to get [Simpson] away โขfrom her.”
