North Fort Myers Drivers Face Detour โasโ FDOT Begins Roadwork on Pondella โRoad
Motorists traveling on Pondella Road in North โขFort Myers will encounter aโค detour starting December 1 as theโ Florida department of Transportation โ(FDOT) begins a project to reconstruct and widen a key intersection. The eastbound right-turnโ lanes from Pondellaโค Road onto southbound S.R.โ 739 (North Tamiami Trail) โwill be closed at approximately 8 a.m., prompting FDOT to direct traffic along anโข alternateโ route.
The project โขaims to improve safety โขand trafficโ flow at the intersection, addressing โdrainage issues and increasing road capacity. The detour, expected to last through December, will โrequire drivers to turn right onto River โคRoad andโฃ than left onto Cabanaโ Avenueโค to access southbound S.R. 739. Theโฃ closure impacts commuters โขand residents in the area, potentially adding travel time during peak hours. Pedestrians are also advised to follow posted detourโฃ signage. โฃ
FDOT crews will be reconstructing the southwest quadrant of the โฃintersection and installing new drainage structures. All scheduling is subject to change based on weather conditions orโ unforeseen โฃissues. Updates on the project are available at https://www.swflroads.com/project/446293-1.
