Ukraine Under โฃMassiveโ Russian Attack, F-16s Deployed
KYIV, โคUkraine – Ukraine came under a massive aerial assault overnight, โfacingโ a โbarrage of 40 cruiseโ and ballistic missiles, alongside approximately 580 drones ofโค various typesโค launched by Russia, Ukrainian โofficials reported September 20, 2025.โ The attack resulted โin at least one confirmedโค fatality and 26 โฃinjuries,with 14โฃ people hospitalized,includingโข one in critical condition,and caused widespread damage โincluding fires in and around the city of Dnipro.
The sustained assault prompted Ukrainian forces to scramble defenses,with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy specifically thanking “all our warriorsโ who defended theโ skies โคthroughout the night” โand highlighting the effectiveness of Ukraine’s newly deployed F-16 fighter jets. “Our F-16 pilotsโฆhave once again provedโ their โฃprowess and effectively faced the threat of managed missiles directed against Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated in a social media post. This marks a โคmeaningful โmoment in the conflict, demonstrating the operational โuse of the F-16s provided by western allies.
The attack โฃimpacted civilian infrastructure, notably striking a residential high-rise โbuilding in Dnipro, as confirmed by cityโฃ mayor Borisโค Filatov โviaโ Telegram. Serhije lysak, head of the Dniepropetrovskaโ region โขmilitary management, reported that the region was targeted with both drones and missiles, resulting in damage to apartment buildings, private homes, farm โขstructures, and garages. “Severalโข fires broke out in the day and its surroundings,” Lysak added.
The attack also disrupted rail traffic across Ukraine, according to reports.
