First Cabinet Member Implicated in Corruption
This case marks the first instance of a member of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran rakabuming Raka’s cabinet being implicated in a corruption scandal. President Prabowo has reportedly expressed concern over the allegations, having repeatedly emphasized the importance of integrity within his administration. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo stated, “Certainly as the president’s father repeatedly reminded all of us that we need to continue to be careful. Our enthusiasm is the spirit of not abusing the mandate given to us all and that’s why we expressed deep concern.”
Pro Tip: Indonesia’s anti-corruption efforts have faced ongoing challenges, and this case highlights the importance of robust oversight and clarity within government institutions.
KPK Seals Ministry of Manpower Office
As part of the investigation, the KPK sealed a specific room within the Ministry of Manpower’s office in South Jakarta. The sealed room is associated with K3 affairs, suggesting the alleged extortion scheme was directly linked to operations within that department. Authorities suspect the extortion has been ongoing for a considerable period, though the exact timeframe remains under investigation. The amount of money involved is described as ”quite big” by KPK officials.
What impact will this scandal have on the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s anti-corruption agenda? And how will the KPK’s investigation unfold as it delves deeper into the alleged extortion scheme?
Context and Background
Corruption remains a significant challenge in Indonesia, despite ongoing efforts to combat it. The KPK was established in 2002 with a mandate to eradicate corruption, and has achieved notable successes in prosecuting high-profile cases. However, the agency has also faced political interference and attempts to undermine its independence. the K3 certification process, while intended to improve workplace safety, has been identified as an area vulnerable to corruption due to its complex regulations and discretionary elements. According to Transparency International’s 2023 Corruption perception Index, Indonesia scored 40 out of 100, ranking 115th out of 180 countries [[1]]. This case underscores the need for continued vigilance and systemic reforms to strengthen anti-corruption measures.

“If the farm is still open to the public to purchase vegetable baskets, this is the first time that people will be able to come to us for an event of this magnitude,” rejoices Lucile tonews Lyon.
With Jérome, his fellow farmer met thanks to L’amour est dans le pré in 2020, they form one of the star couples of the famous show broadcast on M6. Followed by more than 300,000 people on Instagram, lovers of season 15 are among the former candidates most popular with the public.
Their “fans” risk jumping to the ceiling when they hear the news: December 14 and 15, 2024, Jérome and Lucile organize a large farmers’ market with former participants of the show. An event which will take place on their farm, in Jons (Rhône), just 40 minutes from Lyon.
Local products to “prepare for Christmas”
Around fifteen producers will be present such as Pierre and Fred (S7), Laurent and Céline (S14), Yoann and Emmanuelle (S5)… and will offer their local products for sale.
“There will be jars of vegetables, purees, terrines, cheese, Armagnac… Lots of beautiful things to prepare for Christmas,” explains Lucile.

This market will in fact be a stage of l’ADP TOURan operation now launched every year and which brings together several farmers from L’amour est dans le pré. Each in turn, they host this popular event on their farm. Lucile and Jérome will act as hosts for the first time.
“It’s really great for getting in touch with people”
After the show, we never really had the opportunity to meet the public. Markets are really great for getting in touch with people. It’s also our way of thanking them for following us every day!
Lucile
The event will take place at 268 chemin de Saint-Georges in Jons, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and outdoors.
The entrance will obviously be free. A small restaurant with hot dishes, for a fee and upon reservation, will also be offered so that customers can, if they wish, “spend the day” on site.

The testimony
Mélanie Bardis (now Mélanie Noël) is a weightlifter from CA Évron. In 2008, she participated in the Beijing Olympic Games in the under 49 kg category, where she finished 5th.
Four years later, after having a child, she took part in a second Olympiad, in London in 2012. She finished in 10th place in the competition.
My best memories are in Beijing. It’s the first, it’s the unknown. It was a discovery from A to Z. We had arrived at least a week before in the Beijing area, to prepare. Then we moved to the Olympic village.
We arrive at the village like kings, we discover things we have never seen. I remember the cafeteria, huge, with all the culinary cultures of the world. And then, it is a real village with shops, places to get your nails done, etc. I met French champions there, like Stéphane Diagana. I have a memory of Roger Federer too.
An experience lived as a family
I didn’t see the opening ceremony because my competition was the next day, but I preferred it that way. It was a weight off my shoulders, no pun intended.
Afterwards, I really enjoyed it! I wasn’t going to come back to train, that’s for sure. It was special, because I was preparing my wedding, and so I thought I would end my career after the Games. I went to see other sports, diving, Mehdi Baala’s 1500m final… Seeing the Olympic flame burn at the Bird’s Nest was just beautiful.
I also saw Thomas Bouhail’s silver medal in gymnastics. I tried to do a bit of all the structures.
On the one hand, I knew why I was here, in terms of sacrifice and work, and on the other, I wondered what I was doing there. I went to the France club, with photos, interviews. It was magnificent. We were in great demand, I can’t even imagine for the medal winners. Afterwards, I settled down. And then my parents and my future husband were there, I was even able to show them around the village before it was only open to athletes. They were able to see all the French weightlifters competing. Then, we visited Beijing, we saw the Great Wall of China and all the great monuments around… We enjoyed ourselves, really!
One more tragedy in the United States. On December 24, a 14-year-old teenager killed his 23-year-old older sister over… Christmas gifts.

The end of year celebrations can turn into drama. The proof with a new news story in the United States, more precisely in Pinellas County, in the state of Florida. Like many families, December 24 was reserved for last minute shopping. It was during a shopping trip that this American family was torn apart.
An argument that drags on…
An argument broke out between siblings. A 14-year-old teenager, his 15-year-old brother, his 23-year-old sister and their mother were present. As well as the sister’s children. It is precisely between the two brothers that the quarrel will begin. The reason ? It was for whoever got the most Christmas presents. that the other. The bickering lasted for many minutes.

Until returning home, where things got worse. The younger brother then grabbed the semi-automatic pistol from the house. Things were clear to him: He said he wanted to shoot his older brother in the head. All this for a story of Christmas gifts, we remind you. That’s when the uncle arrived to separate the two brothers.
…And which ends in tragedy
But the matter does not end there, unfortunately. Expelled into the garden, the 14-year-old teenager finds his sister, who is carrying her baby in her arms. The young boy then decides to shoot his sister, who asks him to calm down, and the touch at chest level. The 23-year-old young mother died a few hours later in hospital.
After this shot, the rest of the family came out: the 15-year-old brother took the gun from his little brother and shot him in turn, injuring him. The latter is out of danger and he will undoubtedly soon have to face justice. For his part, the 15-year-old teenager, who had fled, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. A tragic news item.

With his decorations, Hervé lights up the children’s faces.
The retired driver has made his house in La Lande Vaumont (in Vire Normandy) a magical place for the end of year celebrations.
As soon as the sun sets, everything starts to sparkle. With a surprise this year, music adds that wonderful something.
And Hervé Leroy is not at his first attempt. He has been decorating his pavilion for Christmas for 35 years, with the help of his wife Patricia and his son, Tanguy.
“I do this for the children”
Passionate about electricity, the 69-year-old buys some of his decorations second-hand, but most are made by himself. “I like it,” laughs the Christmas handyman.
I do this for the children. I started with a small pattern that is still on display. It’s actually the first decoration my son puts up every year.

The magic of Christmas is priceless. Despite inflation and the cost of energy, the passion does not weaken one iota. “Some people go to concerts or other things, but my thing is Christmas decorations.”
1.6 km from guirlandes
45,000 LED bulbs have invaded the garden and the house. 1.6 km of garlands. “Every year I add certain things.” This winter, lanterns appeared.

Every day, cars slow down in front of these illuminations. And sometimes we come from far away.
I have people who come from Mayenne to see my decorations. We found words in the mailbox to thank us. It’s the only reward we have and it warms our hearts.
