Vinceโข Neil Reveals Stroke delayed Motley Crueโ residency, details Gruelingโ Recovery
LAS VEGAS – Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil disclosed heโ suffered โa stroke earlier thisโ year, contributing โto delays in the band’s ongoing Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live โat Park MGM. The revelation came in a recent interview with the โ Las Vegas Review-Journal, shedding light on the singer’s visibly challenging return to the stageโข and addressing concerns raised โby fans.
The stroke, which occurred months โbefore the residency’s August launch, left Neil initially unable to walk โwithout assistance. “I โwent from people โcarrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn’t walk myself,โ finally to a wheelchair,”โ Neil recounted. He detailedโฃ a rigorous recovery processโ undertaken at his 30-acre ranch withโ the support โขof his girlfriend, โขprogressing fromโ a wheelchair to a walker, then a cane, and ultimately regaining the ability toโ walk โunassisted. “But it’s like a โคfull-time job getting back to where you feel good again,” heโ said, adding, “It takes a while โขto get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do.”
motley Crue bassistโ Nikki Sixx acknowledgedโค Neil’s struggles in a separate interview with the Losโฃ Angelesโฃ times,โฃ stating,โ “He’sโข going to goโฃ onstage again andโฃ toโข fight through that.If he’s got some imperfect moments here and there, they’re getting erased as the days go with rehearsal.” Neil himself expressed optimism, stating โฃhe is “90-95% back to where I wasโ before, and it’s going to be great.”
The news ofโข Neil’s stroke coincides with โคongoing fallout from the band’s 2022 split โคwith formerโ guitarist Mick mars, including lawsuitsโ andโ accusations. Mars had publicly claimed the band used pre-recorded tracks during โคconcerts forโค years. Neil vehemently denied the allegation, โขstating,โ “No, we never did that, ever,” and claiming Mars “was the โonly one onโ tape, because he kept fucking stuff up, โขso we had him on tapeโฆ When he startedโค going off on some weird tangent, our sound guy just turned him off and turned the tape on.”
Neil’s โreturn to performing with his solo band on August 2 in Boston drew mixed reactions, withโข some fansโ applauding his comeback while othersโ expressed concern โover his appearance in videos from the show.โ A subsequent solo โgig was canceled. The band is currently promoting aโ newโค compilation album, “From the Beginning,” featuring materialโ spanning their career, including aโฃ recent โcollaboration with Dolly Parton on “Home Sweet Home.” neil affirmed his โขcommitment to the residency, stating, “Iโ amโค going to pushโฃ throughโ the best Iโข can.”
