Newโค Delhi – Union โคHome Minister Amit Shah โstated on September 16, 2025, that the โฃModi government is fully committed to eliminatingโฃ the drug menace โขfrom India and is actively working towards achieving this objective. Addressing the 2nd National Conference of Heads of anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF)โค of States & UTs, Shah emphasized the importance of safeguarding the nation’s youth, calling them the “biggest hope” for a fullyโค developed India by โ2047.
Shah highlighted the critical link between national development and combating โdrug โฃabuse, noting theโฃ proximity of major global drug supply regions to india. “This is the time thatโข we fight againstโฃ it strongly,” he said.
He identified โฃthree key types of narcotics cartels – those operating at entry points, those distributing within states, and those โrunning small-scaleโข sales operationsโฃ – and urged strong action against all three.”The timeโฃ has come to deal a big blow toโข these three types of cartels,” Shah stated.
During โขthe conference, Shah also initiated the destruction of seized narcotics valued at โน4,794 crore. The previous day, September 15, 2025, he affirmed the government’s dedication to โขeradicating drugs through unified ANTF โคefforts and โขreleasedโ the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) annual report โfor โ2024.
The โNCB is collaboratingโ with departments including GST, stateโข drug controllers, Income Tax, and financial institutions to comprehensively map andโ dismantle drug diversionโฃ networks.
