Denver Summit FCโ tooโค Debut at Mile High Stadium, Setting Stage for NWSL Expansion
DENVER – Denver Summitโ FC will play itsโข inaugural home match โatโ Empower Field atโ Mile High, the home of the Denver Broncos, โขon August 23, 2025, the team announced Monday. The game is โขexpected โฃto โdrawโค a large crowd, signaling the arrival of theโ National Women’s Soccer โคLeague (NWSL) expansion team to the Denver โขmarket. Bay FC recently set a new NWSL attendance record with a sellout crowd of 40,091 at Oracle Park.
The decision to launchโข at Mile High reflects the team’s ambition andโฃ the anticipated levelโฃ of communityโฃ support, according โto Summit FC president โJen โMillet. “Weโ were looking โคfor a โขvenue that could accommodate the size of community support we’ve โreceived, and have championship DNA inside its walls.โค Clearly we have that โhere at Mile High,” she said at Monday’s announcement โevent.
Team owner Cohen echoed that sentiment, stating, “When I โthink โabout Empower Field at Mile High, it’s a symbol where dreamsโ come true, and this is something โthat this match will represent.โค If this game goes the way we think it is,โ I think it will sendโ a very loud message to the restโค ofโข the league that โDenver Summit FC is here to stay.”
Followingโ itsโฃ debut at Mile High, โขDenver Summit FC will move to a temporary 12,000-seatโข stadium adjacent to its training center in Centennial for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The team is planningโข to transition to aโข proposed โ14,500-seat โฃstadium by 2028, located south of downtown โDenver at Santa Fe Yards, bounded byโฃ Interstate 25 and Santa Fe Drive.
The โnew stadium is projected toโ cost between $150 million andโ $200 million, funded by the ownership group, but willโฃ benefit from meaningful public investment. The city of โDenver has committed $70 million towards the project, including the purchaseโค ofโ the landโ and surrounding infrastructure improvements, alongside significant property tax breaks. โคtheโ city โcouncil approved the funding inโ May, and the projectโ is currently awaiting zoning approval,โค beginning with a review by โthe South Platte River Committee on โฃNovember 12.
