Although he did not play in the evening game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Seattle Kraken called up Slovakian forward Marián Studenič from Coachella Valley from the lower AHL on Saturday.

Studenič was called up a day after the NHL’s youngest team placed forward Andre Burakovsky on the injured list. This is his second job in less than two weeks.

Twenty-five-year-old Záhorák played two games in this NHL season with a minus point and two penalty minutes. He played 17 games on the “farm”, in which he scored seven goals and added five assists. The last time he enjoyed a goal was on Friday.

Šimon Nemec: Living the Dream with the New Jersey Devils and NHL Aspirations

Šimon Nemec is currently living a dream in the first team of the New Jersey Devils, and his participation in the upcoming World Junior Championships seems less likely. However, the young defender believes that Slovakia can achieve success even without him or Juraj Slafkovský.

“Of course he has, he has an excellent goalkeeper in the form of Adam Gajan. They can certainly surprise and maybe there won’t be so much pressure on them and they can win a big result. We have a strong generation. In the past, we would have given a lot for two players in the NHL at this age,” Nemec told the Šport newspaper.

So is the participation of the German in the tournament definitively ruled out?

“I won’t answer that for you, but you probably know the answer,” answered the second pick of last year’s draft.

The German’s priority now is to stay in the NHL as long as possible. At the moment, he does not know how long he will be active in the first team. He will play in the first pair again on Tuesday against Vancouver, but then Brendan Smith will be able to return from suspension.

“I should play another game and we’ll see what happens after that. I believe I will stay at the Devils as long as possible. I will go all out in every match because I want to play in the best league in the world. The conditions cannot be compared with anything else,” said Nemec, who also compared the NHL with the AHL.

“I wasn’t as beaten as I was in the AHL, where I score five or six points every third period. I didn’t get similar ‘hits’ here, which surprised me. It was much easier to play in the attacking zone, because the players are very smart and know how to pass it to you. It was easier than in the AHL.”

Curious NHL Moment: Lucas Raymond’s Injury and the New York Rangers’ Victory

The day after the return of the “defeated” team from the cabin to the ice and its subsequent victory, the NHL experienced another curious moment. Detroit hockey player Lucas Raymond injured himself in the face with a high stick, but the referees almost punished his opponent Will Cuyle. Only after a review of the unusual situation did the rookie in the New York Rangers jersey escape the penalty.

Curious situation in the game New York Rangers – Detroit | Video: Associated Press

In the 6th minute of the third period, Detroit held a 2-1 lead and faced the efforts of the home team to equalize.

Raymond wanted to release his team from the opponent’s pressure and moved the puck from his own goal area.

Cuyle tried to pierce the disc with his club, but it soon hit his opponent in the face.

The referees whistled the 21-year-old winger for a high-stick foul and went to check on Raymond for a bloody cut on his face, which would have added more penalty minutes to Cuyle.

However, after the Rangers protested, the referees reviewed the situation on video and found that the Swedish striker brought the opponent’s stick with his own hand when he tried to push it away, and hit himself in the face with it in the process…

The Riders didn’t have to go to four, although Raymond and the Red Wings substitute didn’t like it, and thanks to that, they turned the score in their favor to 3:2 in the remaining part of the period.

In the third act, they even sent nineteen shots at Detroit’s goal, from which attackers K’Andre Miller and Jimmy Vesey finally beat Ville Huss in the 56th minute.

The victory brought the New York team ahead of Vegas to the top of the entire NHL, third is Boston with a large Czech colony including star scorer David Pastrňák.

The injured Filip Chytil was still missing from the Rangers lineup. The Czech striker has been missing from the team since November 3 due to an upper body injury, he missed the eleventh game in a row against Detroit.

Columbus with David Jiříček lost at home to Montreal 2:4. The goals started falling only from the second period. The home team led 1:0 and 2:1 with hits from Patrik Laine and Yegor Činachev.

Montreal always responded within five minutes, with Alex Newhook and Cole Caufield equalizing the score. The match was decided by Joel Armia’s run in 57:03 and Gustav Lindström’s empty net sealed the win.

Jiříček played 18 minutes, during which he blocked three shots, the most of the team. The Czech guard also fired twice and added one negative point to the +/- statistics when he was on the ice with a goal tied at 1:1.

English police arrested a man today in connection with the death of American ice hockey player Adam Johnson, who died after being hit in the neck by a skate during a game. South Yorkshire Police said a man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and is in custody. She did not disclose his identity.

Twenty-nine-year-old Johnson died on October 28 as a result of a tragic accident in the British Champions Cup match on the ice of Sheffield. The American hockey player of Nottingham was hit in the neck with a skate by the Canadian player of the home team Matt Petgrave, Johnson succumbed to serious injuries after being transported to the hospital.

“We launched an investigation immediately following this tragedy and have since been piecing together the events that led to Adam’s death in these unprecedented circumstances,” said Constable Becs Horsfall.

During his career, Johnson made it all the way to the NHL, where he played 13 games for Pittsburgh. In addition to lower overseas competitions, he also worked in Europe in Malmö and Augsburg. He started his first season for Nottingham. The Washington Capitals team announced on Wednesday that veteran forward Nicklas Bäckström will take an indefinite leave of absence from hockey due to health reasons.

The 35-year-old Swede recorded one assist in the first eight games of the season. In the last one, he only started in January because of the hip joint surgery he underwent before it. He scored seven goals and 14 assists in 39 matches.

“Due to my injury situation, I have decided to take some time off from playing. This is a difficult decision, but one that I feel is right for my health,” declared Bäckström.

“I want to thank my teammates, the organization and the fans for their unwavering support throughout this process. At this time, I request privacy while I decide on my next steps and viable options for non-promotion.”

Bäckström has a valid contract with a cap-hit of 9.2 million US dollars until the end of next season.
