China’s Auto Rise: BYD, SAIC & Geely Break into Top 10 Global Car Brands 2025

by Priya Shah – Business Editor March 1, 2026
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Chinese automakers are rapidly gaining global market share, with three brands now ranking among the world’s ten best-selling, according to data released this week. Toyota Motor Corporation remains the global leader, with sales exceeding 11 million vehicles, followed by Volkswagen Group.

Hyundai Motor Group and General Motors continue to hold the third and fourth positions, respectively. Stellantis Group secured fifth place with over 5.4 million units sold, bolstered by an 11% year-on-year increase in the second half of the year.

The most significant shift comes from the rise of Chinese manufacturers. BYD Auto, SAIC Motor, and Geely Holdings all improved their rankings, displacing Nissan from the top ten. BYD climbed to sixth place with 4.602 million vehicles sold in 2025, surpassing Tesla to turn into the world’s leading seller of all-electric vehicles, with 2.2567 million pure electric vehicle sales – a 27.86% year-on-year increase.

Government support within China is playing a key role in the success of its automakers. A vehicle trade-in program generated over 2.6 trillion yuan in sales in 2025, benefiting approximately 360 million consumers, with over 11.5 million vehicles exchanged, according to China’s Ministry of Finance.

“China’s global market share rose to 40% in November and remained healthy at 37% in December 2025. For the entire year, China’s automotive market share reached 35.6% globally, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from 34.2% in 2024,” stated Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association.

SAIC and Geely have overtaken Ford and Honda in the list of the world’s ten best-selling car brands. The rankings for 2025 are as follows: Toyota (11.32 million units), Volkswagen (8.98 million units), Hyundai (7.27 million units), General Motors (6.18 million units), Stellantis (5.48 million units), BYD (4.6 million units), SAIC (4.51 million units), Ford (4.4 million units), Geely (4.12 million units), and Honda (3.52 million units).

Davina Karamoy & Ardhito Pramono: Affair Rumors & Allegations Explained

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor February 17, 2026
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Jakarta – Indonesian musician and actor Ardhito Pramono and actress Davina Karamoy have sparked speculation of a romantic relationship after a series of interactions on TikTok, according to reports surfacing on Tuesday.

The online buzz began after Karamoy posted a Valentine’s Day message on TikTok, accompanied by a stream of Ardhito Pramono’s song “17 to 70,” which she identified as her “new favorite song.” Pramono subsequently reposted Karamoy’s TikTok content and left a comment thanking her, to which Karamoy playfully responded, “Demi apazi dinotis,” a phrase indicating her excitement at receiving his attention.

The exchange, reported by detikHOT and TribunStyle, quickly gained traction, with social media users commenting on the apparent connection between the two celebrities. Some speculated that the interaction could be a promotional strategy for an upcoming project, while others suggested a genuine romantic interest. One user commented, “kyaknya ada project bareng deh” (“seems like there’s a project together”), while another wrote, “jangan jangan gimick doang sihh, nanti juga ada video mv single terbaru ardhito pramono hehhehe” (“maybe it’s just a gimmick, there will be a music video for Ardhito Pramono’s latest single”).

The online attention follows recent reports linking Karamoy to businessman Dito Ariotedjo, though those rumors now appear to be fading as focus shifts to her connection with Pramono. A post on the @playitsafebabynew account on Sunday, February 15, 2026, featured images purportedly showing Karamoy and Pramono together, further fueling the speculation. mStar reported that images of the pair embracing have also circulated online.

As of Tuesday, neither Karamoy nor Pramono have publicly addressed the rumors directly. The pair continue to maintain an active presence on social media, but have not offered further comment on the nature of their relationship.

BYD Denza B5: Launching Soon in Indonesia? – Specs & Details

by Priya Shah – Business Editor February 15, 2026
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

BYD has registered the Denza B5 brand in Indonesia, signaling a potential launch of the plug-in hybrid SUV in the country, according to filings with the Indonesian Directorate General of Intellectual Property.

The Chinese automaker, BYD Company Limited, filed the trademark for “Denza B5” in June 2024, with protection valid until June 2034. The registration categorizes the Denza B5 as a motor vehicle, according to data from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property.

BYD showcased the Denza B5 at a recent Indonesian automotive exhibition held in ICE, BSD, Tangerang, but has not yet officially launched the vehicle. Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR and Government at BYD Indonesia, stated the company is gathering market feedback before introducing the SUV to Indonesian consumers. “We want to get good feedback as soon as possible so You can bring it to the Indonesian market,” Panjaitan said at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026.

BYD is taking a cautious approach to the Indonesian market, preferring to study potential consumer reception before a full-scale launch. “We don’t want to be too hasty or rushed,” Panjaitan explained. The Denza B5 is already available in global markets, but BYD aims to tailor its introduction to the specific needs and preferences of Indonesian buyers.

The Denza B5 is a plug-in hybrid SUV built on BYD’s Dual-Mode Off-road (DMO) platform, combining a body-on-frame structure with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The vehicle features a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, producing a combined output of 425 kW and 760 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The Denza B5 is equipped with a BYD Blade battery with a capacity of 31.8 kWh, offering a range of 90 km on electric power alone.

BYD opted to initially showcase the Denza B5 at the BCA Expo 2026 in January, rather than the larger IIMS 2026 in February, to target a premium consumer segment and gather direct feedback. “At the BCA Expo, they really segment the premium market. We want to get direct feedback from that market,” Panjaitan said. BYD used IIMS 2026 to launch a new variant of its Atto 3 model, the Advanced Plus.
