Limerick Motorways See Third Collision This Week, Causing Delays
A single-vehicle collision โon the M20 in Limerick thisโฃ morning,โ September 11, 2025, is causing significant traffic disruption, marking the third early โขmorning incident on Limerick’s motorway network this week.
The collision occurred on the M20/N20 southbound nearโค Patrickswell, before the โฃCork exit at junction 5, shortly after 7am. Limerick Fire and โRescue Service responded to the scene at โค7:07am, with four units from Limerick city and one from Rathkeale remaining for almost two โhours, returning to base at 8:53am.
An Garda Sรญochรกna โconfirmed officers and emergency services attended the incident on the M20 at โฃAttyflin, Co. Limerick, at โคapproximately 7am. “No injuries โฃhave been reported at this time,”โ a spokesperson โstated, adding that “Investigationsโ are ongoing.”
Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has warned motorists to expectโ “delays to your journey.” They advise drivers to “considerโค a โdifferent journey route or start time” and to “drive with caution, reduce your speed and obey โคinstructions โคfrom โemergency services” when approaching theโข area.
This incident follows a multi-vehicle collision on the M7 between Junction 29, Ballysimon, and Junction 30, Rosbrien, on Monday, September 8, at โฃapproximately 8:40am. A second collision involving four vehiclesโ occurredโข on the M7โค between Junction โ29, Ballysimon, and Junction 28, Castletroy,โ atโ around 8:30am on Tuesday, โฃSeptember 9.
