Garibaldi Presents: The Bruna Trilogy – A Party of Tuscan Spirit
The Garibaldi theater is set to host the return of The Bruna Trilogy, three captivating shows created by Alessandro Riccio and Alberto Becucci, blending music, song, and poetry. This series,a tribute to authentic Tuscan culture, will run from Friday to Sunday, with performances beginning at 9pm each evening.
The trilogy kicks off on Friday with brown is the Night,a theater-song performance featuring Bruna,a seasoned dance hall singer known for her irreverent spirit and flamboyant style - adorned with jewels and sequins. Accompanied by her longtime musical partner, Franchino, a shy and somewhat awkwardly-dressed accordionist and pianist, Bruna delivers a repertoire of songs exploring themes of life in the suburbs, hardship, love, and loss. These songs are interwoven with personal anecdotes and poems, gradually revealing the complex lives of both Bruna and Franchino. The show promises a bittersweet experience, balancing comedy and poignant emotion.
Saturday’s performance, The Thousand and One Bruna, focuses on Bruna and Franchino as an impresario expresses interest in the “Lady of San Frediano.” The show asks: can Bruna harness her vibrant personality to secure the role? Rumors swirl about her past – tales of performing on the stages of Versilia, a relationship with Domenico Modugno, and even a collaboration with Aretha Franklin. Expect a performance brimming with irony, poetry, and a diverse musical landscape, drawing inspiration from artists like Yves Montand, Nat King Kole, and gabriella Ferri.
The trilogy concludes on Sunday with Bruna, for Goodness Sake, arriving at Il Garibaldi. This show centers on Bruna, an eccentric and ofen grumpy singer, participating in a charity evening organized by franchino and his efficient wife, Patrizia. When Patrizia falls ill unexpectedly, Franchino enlists Bruna as the event’s godmother, requesting she maintain a level of decorum. However, true to form, Bruna intends to reshape the evening with her own song choices, stories, and unfiltered reflections on life’s joys and sorrows.
Tickets for Bruna, for Goodness Sake are available for purchase on the Il Garibaldi website.
