MTSU Trustees Approve New Graduate Programs in High-Demand Fields
Murfreesboro, TN – The MTSU Board of Trustees recently authorized the advancementโฃ of new graduate degree programs in healthcare and film/television, responding to growing workforce needs andโค student demand.The approvals,โ made during a recent meeting, โsignal the university’s commitment to expanding its โacademic offerings in strategically important areas.
These new programs-details of which were not immediately released-come as Tennessee and the nation face critical shortages in bothโค healthcareโ professionals and skilled creatives in the entertainment industry. theโ additions will position MTSUโ to better serve students โseeking advanced training and to contribute to the economic vitality โof the region by supplying a pipeline of qualified graduates.
Beyond the โคprogram approvals, trustees also recognizedโข MTSU’s recent national accolades, including rankings from The โขWall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, and Newsweek Magazine.โ The university was further honored as “best College/University” by readers of The Tennessean in the 2025 Best of Music City Awards, besting Vanderbilt University โand the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as finalists.
In other business, the board approved a restructuring of the College of โEducation to align academic programs with their respective disciplines and professional focuses. Additionally, market-basedโ salary increases for faculty and staff were โขauthorized, effective january 1, โ2026, for those โฃemployed as of December 31, 2025. Trustees also ratified a revised budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, incorporating adjustments to tuition revenue, appropriations, expenditures, andโ auxiliary/restricted funds.
