CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
11th in Eastern Conference (6-8-6, 24 pts.)

Last Result | 2-1 loss vs. Inter Miami CF

Despite being punished twice by the legendary Lionel Messi, the Revolution played a tight game against one of the most aggressive attacking sides in the league on Wednesday night. New England managed to put six of their 16 shots on target – including a stunner from Carles Gil in the 79th minute that offered a glimmer of hope – but ultimately fell, 2-1.

The Revs are now winless in five and have slipped to 2-5-2 at home, but they’ve found far more success on the road this season, claiming 16 of their 24 points outside of Foxborough. Away to Austin FC for the first time in club history on Saturday, New England will be looking for a return to the winning ways that saw them go unbeaten in nine through April and May.

Austin FC
9th in Western Conference (7-8-5, 26 pts.)

Last Result | 2-2 draw at San Jose Earthquakes (U.S. Open Cup)
– Austin wins in penalty shootout, 4-2

Despite featuring the league’s lowest-scoring attack (15 goals through 20 games), Austin’s resolute defense has earned enough results to find themselves in playoff contention. Currently sitting 9th in the Western Conference table, the Verde and Black have been most successful at home, with a record of 4-2-4 at Q2 Stadium.

Austin’s attack will be missing a key player on Saturday, as it was announced this week that leading scorer Brandon Vázquez has been placed on the season-ending injury list with a torn ACL. New England will arrive in Austin to face an attack likely motivated to honor Vázquez and fill the void left by their All-Star striker.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution forward Maxi Urruti
Prior to joining Club Atlético Platense in his native Argentina in 2024, Maxi Urruti played two seasons in Austin, scoring 10 goals for the club through 2022-23. Now back in MLS with the Revolution, Urruti has scored two key goals for New England in his 560 minutes of play.

Acting as depth in the Revolution attack, Urruti has scored two late game-tying goals after coming off the bench. The veteran striker first scored in the 84th minute to secure a 3-3 draw in Kansas City, and then locked in a historic 3-3 comeback against the Colorado Rapids with a stoppage-time goal at Gillette Stadium. As the Revs focus on finishing their chances, Urruti’s late-game heroics and familiarity with Austin FC could be enough to tip the scales for the visitors.

Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver
Austin boasts the second-best defensive record in the West, conceding just 23 goals across 20 matches. Much of that resilience stems from goalkeeper Brad Stuver, who has racked up 67 saves this season and earned a spot on the 2025 MLS All-Star roster thanks to his consistent performances.

While the Verde and Black may struggle to find goals without their starting striker, Stuver could play a major role in keeping Austin in competition against the Revolution. With seven clean sheets to his name this season, he poses a challenge for a Revolution squad that is searching for its shooting boots.
