Jayden Stone Suffers Injury,โ Expected to Miss Multiple weeks for โMissouri Basketball
Columbia, Mo. – Missouri Tigersโข guard โJayden Stone sustained an injury during Thursday’s game against Milwaukee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, โhead โคcoach Dennis Gates confirmed Monday. The injuryโ occurred during the first half of the 78-68 victory.
The โlossโฃ of Stone โfurther strains an โalreadyโ thin Missouri roster grappling withโ injuries and illnesses. While the specific nature of Stone’s injury hasn’t โคbeen disclosed, his absence adds to the challenges facing the Tigers asโ they navigate a demanding early-season โschedule. Stone’s scoring and perimeter shooting will be โnotably missed.
Mizzou was recentlyโ able to โreturn small forward โAnnor Boateng from the sideline, but remains without severalโ key players. โStarting combo forward Trent Pierce has yet to play this season and has not participatedโค in practice, according to gates. Seven-foot-five center Trent Burns is recovering from โฃoffseason foot surgery and is expected back โin the coming weeks, tho aโ firm return date is stillโ undetermined. Centerโ Shawn Phillips Jr. recently missed a game due to illnessโ and is not expected to be sidelined for an extended โคperiod.
Without Stone, Missouriโ may rely more heavily on โguards Sebastianโค Mack and T.O. Barrett to fill โคminutes at โฃthe shooting guard position.
The Tigers face South โฃCarolina State tuesday night at Mizzou โขArena, with tipoff โscheduled for 7 p.m. CT and streaming on SEC network+.
