Mexico City – Authorities in Mexico have released Angelica Torrini, a 29-year-old Venezuelan citizen, who was briefly detained in connection with the murders of Colombian singer Bayron Sánchez, known as B King, and DJ Jorge Herrera (Regio Clown). The release comes as investigations continue into the deaths of the two musicians, whose bodies were discovered on september 22nd.
Torrini, who uses the social media handle Angie Miller, was apprehended on September 23rd by an anti-kidnapping unit in the State of Mexico, where the bodies were found. She had been reported missing earlier that day by the Mexico City prosecutor’s Office.
Prior to their deaths, B King and DJ Regio Clown were last seen in Mexico City on September 16th, having traveled to Mexico for a series of performances. Social media posts show Torrini appearing with B King, with a September 11th video captioned “My favourite Colombian.”
The manager of B King dismissed reports in the Mexican press suggesting a link between the murders and drug cartels. Investigations are being conducted by prosecutors in both Mexico City and the State of Mexico, but officials have so far declined to release details regarding the ongoing inquiry.
Juan Camilo Gallego, B King’s representative, who reported the musicians missing and has since sought political asylum in multiple countries, declined to comment specifically on Torrini when contacted by Colombian broadcaster W Radio on Friday, citing fears for his own safety. “I will not return to Colombia,” gallego stated.
The case has garnered important attention in both Colombian and Mexican media. Torrini,a model and mother living in mexico City, remains a person of interest as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the musicians’ deaths.
