Bucks Guard Kevin Porterโข Jr. to Undergo Surgery After Meniscus Injury
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. will undergo surgery toโ repair โคa meniscus injury in his right knee, โthe team announced Friday, sidelining the starting point guard forโข approximately four โweeks. The injury occurred โduring a workout on Oct.30, just over a week after Porter Jr. initially injuredโ his left ankle.
Porter Jr., who re-signed with the Bucks this offseason on โฃa 2-year, $10.5 million deal, had been thrust into a key role as โthe team’s starting point guard. His absence โadds another challenge toโค a โBucks โคteam seekingโข to integrate โฃnew head coach Doc Rivers and build chemistry around Giannis Antetokounmpo โand Damianโ Lillard.โ The injury impacts the team’s early-season depth and forces adjustments to their offensive and defensive strategies.
The team categorizedโ the procedure as a “minorโ orthopedic procedure.” Porter Jr. initially sustained anโข ankle injury โon Oct. 22 during a game against the Washington โคWizards after stepping on teammate Bobby Portis jr.’s foot. โฃHe scored 10 points and dished out two assists in nine minutes before exiting that contest.
Bucks coach Doc Rivers noted Porter Jr. had recently returned to practice before the team’s โคOct.30 win over the Golden State Warriors, and was present on โthe bench duringโข that game.
