US Sending F-16 Fighter Jets to Perry Gulf Region for Reinforcement and Deterrence

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 15, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

A Pentagon official said the United States will send F-16 fighter jets to the Perry Gulf region over the weekend to reinforce A-10 strike planes that have been patrolling there for more than a week since Iran tried to seize two oil tankers.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the F-16s would provide air cover for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and demonstrate the US military presence in the region to deter Iran from similar actions.

The US Navy has indicated that in both cases the Iranian warships retreated when the US squadron’s minecraft “McFaul” approached the scene.

The official also said that the United States is considering military options that exist to reduce the increasingly aggressive behavior of Russian warplanes in Syrian airspace, which complicates the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic State”.

The official declined to elaborate on existing military options, but stressed that the United States would continue to fly over western Syria to carry out anti-Islamic State missions.

EP Backing: EU’s Ammunition and Missile Production Plan to Address Arms Shortage

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 13, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The EP backed a plan to increase the EU’s ammunition and missile production capacity to address the current arms shortage.

Under legislation agreed last week with the EU Council, the Ammunition Support Act aims to speed up the supply of ammunition and missiles to Ukraine and help member states replenish their stockpiles.

The new law aims to introduce measures, including €500 million in funding, that would increase the EU’s ammunition production capacity and address the current shortage of defense assets, in particular artillery ammunition, missiles and their components.

In negotiations with the Council of the EU, MEPs ensured that more diverse projects would receive funding, and that a higher funding rate would be applied to small and medium-sized companies. The EP also pushed for new funding so that weapons are not financed from existing cohesion funding. Also, the MEPs advocated that the EU member states supply the ammunition financed by this act to Ukraine and that it should not be subject to export restrictions.

The legislation passed with 505 votes in favour, 56 against and 21 abstentions. In order for it to become law, it still needs to be officially adopted by the Council of the EU.

The Ammunition Production Support Act is a response to Ukraine’s request to supply 155 millimeter caliber artillery shells to the EU and the agreement of the EU Council on March 20, 2023 on the “three-pronged approach”, which aims to provide Ukraine with one million rounds of artillery ammunition within the next twelve months

Member States were invited to urgently transfer ammunition from their stockpiles to Ukraine. EU member states have agreed to jointly purchase one million rounds of ammunition. The objective of the third direction is to increase the production capacity of the European defense industry, which should be achieved by the adopted law.

Putin’s Army Faces Challenges in Defensive Operations in Southern Ukraine

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Some aspects of Putin’s army’s defensive operations in southern Ukraine are severely limited and may not be as effective.

Propagandists assure that the defensive line in the south of Ukraine is very reliable and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not able to overcome it. However, in reality, everything does not look as rosy as the Kremlin publics describe.

A number of Russian military bloggers said that the invaders in the Zaporozhye region have been on the front line since October 2022. During all this time there were no rotations and they are not in the best psychological state. Analysts from ISW analyzed the situation.

Russian military correspondents say that the rotation is not carried out due to the fact that there is no reserve or new replenishment in the ranks of the RF Armed Forces. Putin’s army simply lacks a combat-ready reserve.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is afraid to carry out a rotation on this sector of the front, as the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is underway. A number of military correspondents also accuse the RF Ministry of Defense of the fact that military aviation strikes at previously destroyed military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the sole purpose of making a beautiful video for Shoigu and Putin. Moreover, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation continues to overestimate the data on losses in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out counter-offensive operations in three sectors of the front. Geolocation footage showed the advance of Ukrainian defenders on the western outskirts of Kleshcheevka.

On July 5, the President of Ukraine, in an interview with CNN, acknowledged the slowdown in the advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye direction. At the same time, he once again called for the West to allocate new weapons systems in order to launch new attacks in the south of Ukraine.

Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Maliar said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will strike at the rear of the enemy in order to prevent the enemy from using weapons against the Armed Forces of Ukraine during ground operations. In the past 24 hours alone, 6 depots with ammunition of the RF Armed Forces were destroyed in the Zaporozhye direction. And on July 4, an artillery strike on Makiivka destroyed military equipment and artillery of Putin’s army.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the capture of new enemy positions in the north and south of Bahmut.

Recall that Finland allocates new military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 105 million euros.

“Occupiers Build Defensive Structures at Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant Amidst Fears of Ukraine Counteroffensive”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 27, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The occupiers at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant built defensive structures from sacks behind the reactor buildings, fearing a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The day before, satellite images from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant appeared on the Web. Protective structures can be seen on the roofs of some of the 6 reactors.

Today, 27 April, at press service The British Ministry of Defense announced the main theses on the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP.

Satellite images were taken as early as March 23, 2023. The occupiers made protective structures from sandbags.

The invaders entered the ZNPP more than a year ago. However, satellite imagery confirmed that the occupiers had decided to use the power plant building as a defensive position.

The Russian Federation probably built these positions because it is increasingly concerned about the prospects for a large-scale counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

If active hostilities begin around the ZNPP, the security system of the plant itself may be damaged.

However, direct catastrophic damage to the reactors is unlikely in the most likely scenarios involving infantry weapons, as the structures are very heavily reinforced.

Back in early March, the occupiers began to study in detail the possibility of retreat from territory of ZNPP.

Recall that in mid-April near ZNPP there were two explosions. It is possible that these were ordinary mines.

Slovenia Completes Transfer of Armored Personnel Carriers to Ukraine

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 26, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

According to the publication, unnamed sources said that the transportation to Ukraine has already been fully completed this week. At the same time, the transfer operation lasted several months, since the armored vehicles needed training and maintenance.

Journalists add that the equipment was first delivered to one of the nearby countries on transport aircraft. She was probably moved to one of the two logistics centers for collecting aid to Ukraine in Poland or Slovakia.

It is worth noting that in total Slovenia had 85 Valuk armored personnel carriers. Such equipment is equipped with 40 mm automatic grenade launchers or 12.7 mm machine guns. This is the least old equipment that the country has transferred to Ukraine.

Valuk are designed to transport infantry and protect them from anti-personnel mines and weapons with a caliber of up to 12.7 mm.

Russian Embassy in Berlin Ordered to Pay over 800 Euros for Damaged T-72 Tank Protest

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 15, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

They noted that, according to the agreement that was concluded with the local authorities, they are obliged to pay 806 euros 20 cents for the fact that the tank stood in front of the Russian embassy for four days.

This amount was explained by “the special use of 43.08 square meters of asphalt by the tank.”

It is worth noting that on February 24, on the anniversary of the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a damaged T-72 tank of the invaders began to stand in Berlin near the Russian embassy in the morning.

The organizers of the action noted that the technique served as a reminder of the beginning of the war.

“We want to put this rubbish under the terrorists’ door and return it to them,” Death said at the time.
