Pakistan and Palestineโฃ Formalize Healthcare โCooperation wiht New MoU
Islamabad -โ September 17, 2025 – Pakistanโข and the State of Palestine today signedโค a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the health sector, reaffirming the long-standing “brotherly ties” between the twoโ nations. The agreement, signed by PakistanS Health Minister Syedโค Mustafa Kamal and palestinian Ambassador Dr. Zuhair Darโค Zaid, aims to improve the health and well-being of citizens in both countries.
The mou establishes a pakistan-Palestine Health Working Group,โข to be formed within 30 days, to oversee implementation and guide practical collaboration. Key โareas of focus will include enhancing capacity in advanced medical fields such as interventional cardiology, organ transplantation, orthopaedic surgery, endoscopic ultrasound, burn and plastic surgery. Joint efforts will also โbe directed towards infectious โdiseases, ophthalmology, and pharmaceuticals, with opportunities for collaborative research to be explored.
“The purpose of this agreement is to foster closer collaborationโ for improving the health and well-being of โฃthe people of both brotherly โคnations,” Minister Kamal stated duringโข the โsigningโค ceremony. He further assured the Palestinian ambassador of Pakistan’s continued supportโค for โthe Palestinian people in the field โofโ health, adding, “The heartsโ of the people of Pakistan beat with Palestine, and we โฃstand ready to assist them in every possible way.”
Pakistan has historically been a strong supporterโข of Palestine, being among the few countries thatโ recognizes the state of Palestine. It has consistentlyโค voiced support for Palestine at โคinternational โคforums and routinely providesโค humanitarian aid, notably to โคGaza, โamidst ongoing conflict.
“Palestineโข and Pakistan are brotherlyโค countries,” โคremarked Ambassador Zaid, expressing gratitude for Pakistan’s ongoing support. “Together, we will work for theโ improvement of the health and well-being of our peoples.”
The โsigning ceremony was attended by Secretary of Health Hamid Yaqoob, the additional secretary of health, and the directorโข general of health.
