Heat Dome Grips Nation, Bringing Risky Temperatures Through July
A persistent heat dome is causing dangerous, oven-like conditions across the United states, with extreme temperatures expected to continue through July.Atmospheric scientist gallus described the phenomenon as trapping “stagnant, hot air that can feel like an oven,” impacting people, crops, adn animals.
The National Weather Service indicates that dangerous heat will persist in parts of the Central and Southeast regions throughout the month. AccuWeather forecasts highs reaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit daily from Texas to western Tennessee for one to two weeks. While the Northeast experienced a brief respite with highs in the 80s and lower humidity, the heat dome is projected to expand into the region by July 25. This expansion will drive temperatures into the high 90s, with humidity making it feel over 100 degrees.
