Mother Devastated Afterโ Son Fatallyโฃ Shot During Police Operation in Miami-Dade
Miami-Dade County,FL – Yudimi Rodrรญguez,a Cuban mother,is demanding answersโค after her 21-year-old son,Christopher Barata, was โขfatally shot during a police operation at their home โon December 2,2025.Rodrรญguez described โdiscovering โขher son’s death, stating, “They killed him in theโฃ living room, they killed him unjustly.”
The incident occured at the family’s residence located at 15513 โSW 102nd โขCourt,โ in the โฃPalmetto States community. Rodrรญguez recounts that a SWAT team forciblyโข entered their โhome while she,โ her husband,โ three childrenโ – including a three-year-old – and her mother โฃwere sleeping, tearing offโฃ the door and โremoving them from the house before shots rang out.
“My three-year-old son saw โฃhow they killed his brother,” Rodrรญguez saeid, visiblyโ distraught. โ”They shot him down โฃas โif he โขwere a criminal. He had nothing to do with what they were looking for.”
Barata was a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent at Miami International Airport and was preparing to join the โคArmy, according to his mother. His brother, 25-year-old Cristian Barata, also a TSA agent, was detained โduring the โoperation.
Rodrรญguezโค vehemently denies any โfamily involvement in crimes related to โchild pornography, the โalleged focus of the โinvestigation according to Miami-Dadeโ Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz. “My childrenโค work, they don’t use drugs, they don’t have problems. They didn’t do anything. I don’t โunderstand โฃwhy theyโฃ came in โlike that or why they killed โme,” she stated.
Sheriff Cordero-Stutz reported toโ local media that deputies evacuatedโฃ two adults and a child prior to โขthe shooting, and that an armed man confronted officers at theโฃ door. However, the family disputes this account, claiming no one attempted toโ open the door andโ that โคher husband was detainedโ without explanation, with no proper proclamationโ of entry made by the agents.
The florida โขDepartment of Lawโฃ Enforcement โ(FDLE) has assumed the investigation, standard procedure inโข officer-involved shootings. The family has announced โtheir intention to โpursue legal action to determine the โfull circumstances surrounding Christopher Barata’s death.โ Rodrรญguez, overwhelmed with grief, repeatedly stated,”They killed him, they killed him.”
