Barnechea, Chile – The iconic Chuck E. Cheese location in Santiago’s Sector de Cantagallo permanently closed its doors on August 10, 2024, ending a 30-year run as a cornerstone of family entertainment in the capital. The closure marks a shift for the brand in chile, reflecting a broader trend toward modernized venues.
Opened around 1994, the Cantagallo branch held a special place for generations of Santiago families.While the location is shuttered, Chuck E. Cheese Chile emphasized the decision aligns with a company-wide strategy to prioritize more modern facilities, mirroring changes happening in the United States. The company assures customers in the eastern sector of Santiago can still visit locations at Open Kennedy (near Parque Arauco) and Mall Vivo Los Traities.
The entertainment center expanded rapidly after its initial launch, growing to “dozens of branches” across Chile by 1996. Despite its popularity, Chuck E. Cheese Chile stated, “Following the United States tendency to prioritize a more modern stage, always keeping our quality and experience standards.”
The company added that elements of the Cantagallo location will be relocated and incorporated into other venues, ensuring a continuation of the brand’s legacy. “Although it is tough to say goodbye, this closure symbolized a new beginning: Leaving behind the old space to give way to a more modern and surprising experience,” a company representative said.
