Award Show Style Mishap Turns Hilarious for jean Danker & Vanessa Vanderstraaten
Singapore – A fashion coincidence turned into a moment of levity at the recent Mediacorp awards show when radio personality Jean Danker and actress Vanessa Vanderstraaten arrived wearing the exact same emerald green tube dress. The pair, both longtime acquaintances, discovered their matching outfits in a pre-show encounter that involved ”a lot of screaming,” according to Vanderstraaten.
The dress, a body-hugging design, is from Singaporean fashion rental brand Rentadella, owned by singer-songwriter Ming Bridges. Vanderstraaten, known for her role in Lion Mums, recounted bumping into Danker outside the restroom and realizing the sartorial overlap. “We were like ‘Eh!’ and then there was just a lot of screaming, but I think she looks amazing in this dress,” she gushed.
The onstage acknowledgement of the matching looks came as a surprise to Danker, who admitted she ”had to roll with it and mention it” after being playfully called out by a presenter. “I didn’t think Jean would do that,” Vanderstraaten later quipped, “But she’s so lovely, I think both of us were just like: ‘Eh, we’re the same. It’s the Spider-Man meme!'”
Despite initial surprise, both women embraced the moment with good humor. vanderstraaten playfully declared Danker looked better in the dress, praising her toned physique, while Danker assured everyone that Vanderstraaten is “a good sport” and would take it in stride.
“I think we both really rocked [the outfit] to be honest!” Danker added.Vanderstraaten confessed she already felt slightly overdressed before discovering Danker was wearing the same gown. This marks the first time Vanderstraaten has experienced a wardrobe repeat at an event, but she wasn’t embarrassed.
