Makkah, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia โคhas announced plans to โคconstruct the “King Salman Gate,”โ a massive multi-purpose development adjacent to the grand Mosque in Makkah. The project, unveiled Wednesday, October 15, 2025, will span 12 million square meters and โaims to enhance โaccess to the holy site and improve theโข pilgrimageโ experience.
The development will incorporate residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural โspaces, alongside capacity for 900,000 worshippers indoors and outdoors, according โขto the โSaudi Press Agency (SPA).
“This โproject marks an important milestone in the development โคof Makkah and its central region, making it a global benchmark in modern urban planning,” SPA reportedโ on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Theโค King Salman Gate is designed to blend Islamic architectural heritage withโฃ modern urban design,and will include the restoration of approximately 19,000 square meters of ancient sites. The project will also be integrated with a publicโค transportation network to facilitate movement for pilgrims and visitors.
Developed byโฃ RUA alharam AlMakki Company, the King Salman Gate is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s โขVisionโข 2030 economic diversification plan, projected to create over 300,000 jobs โby 2036. The initiative is intended to “contribute to increasing access to the Grand Mosque, improving the quality of services, and enriching the journey of every visitor, in line with the objectives of the โฃPilgrimage โฃExperience Program,” SPA added.
