Newark, NJ – DaBaby โขand Jadakiss have been announced as headliners for the 2025 Newark 24 Hours of peace concert,โฃ a cornerstone event of โฃthe city’s โขannual Peace weekโ initiative.โ The concert, slated to take place during the city-wide effort โขto curtail violence thru community engagement, will feature performances from both artists as Newark transforms into a hub for arts, culture, โขand positive social interaction.
The 24 Hours of Peace movement, and its associated concert, represents a proactive approach to addressing crime as a public health โฃissue, according to Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. “We say crime andโฃ violence is a public health issue. So if you treat โit like public health, then there are different ways you deal with itโฆ Toโฃ change culture, to tell kidsโข that it’s okayโ to love, to be peaceful, โto shake each other’s hands, to say, ‘I’m sorry’โฆ If we make that okay, the โkids make different decisions,” Barakaโฃ stated in a โ2022 โinterview. This year’s event buildsโ on previous successes, aiming to foster a climate ofโฃ peace and unity within the city.
The concertโข is part of Newark’s larger Peace Week, running from August 31st to September 5th, encompassing a variety of events designed to promote non-violence andโ community building. Hip-Hop pioneer andโ festival co-founder Hakim Green described the festival as embodying “the true meaning โขof Hip-Hop: peace, love, unity, safety, and having fun.” Further details regarding the concertโข venue and schedule will be โขreleased in โฃtheโ coming weeks.
