Titans Coaching Search focuses on Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith, While Joe Brady‘s Candidacy Appears Unlikely
The Tennessee Titans are reportedly concentrating their โhead coachingโข search on two โฃexperienced offensive minds: current Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator arthur Smith, according to reports. Simultaneously occurring, Buffalo Bills offensiveโ coordinator Joe Brady is โขconsidered a less probable candidate.
Nagy, 47, previously served as the โhead coach ofโค the โChicago Bears from 2018-2021. He returned to the Chiefs in 2022, holding various offensive positions before becoming offensive coordinator in 2023. During his second tenure in Kansas โคCity, the Chiefs have reached three consecutive Super Bowls, winning two. while Andy Reid calls the plays for the chiefs,Nagy hasโ a pre-existing relationship with Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi, who worked with Nagy inโค Kansas City from 2009-2024.
Smith,โข a Tennessee native, coached with the Titans from 2011-2020, including โขa prosperous two-year stint as offensive coordinator.โ He then became head โcoach of โขthe Atlanta Falcons, were he posted threeโ consecutive 7-10 seasons before being dismissed. In his first year withโ the Steelers in 2024, Smith’s offense ranked 16th in points and 21st in yards, navigating a quarterback situationโฃ involving Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. This year, with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback,โ the Steelers rank 14th in points per game but 29thโฃ in yards per contest.
Despite calling plays for Buffalo’s high-powered offense since 2023, 36-year-old Joe Brady is considered a less likely candidate. Following the recent dismissal of Bill Callahan after less than a year, the Titans โreportedly are hesitant to hire another young, first-time head coach.
