Czech Music Legend Vladimír Mišík to be Inducted into Czech Nightingale Hall of Fame
Prague, Czech Republic - November 14, 2024 – Celebrated singer and composer Vladimír Mišík will be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Czech Nightingale awards during a live broadcast on Nova TV, November 21st, organizers announced Tuesday. Mišík joins previous Hall of Fame inductees Jiří Suché, Václav Neckář, and Marta Kubišová.
The 78-year-old musician, whose health has limited his mobility and ability to play guitar in recent years, last performed live five years ago. A recording of a 2019 concert was released this October and may represent his final performance.
“I would like to thank all the musicians who have ever played with me. it was an amazing time – concerts and records. I am actually very pleased inside. One of my friends said that it is indeed critically important to cheer up,entertain and move,and that is what I have always tried.Live music is exciting and I am glad that my audience was also very receptive,” Mišík stated.
MišíkS recent work has focused on studio recordings, notably his collaborations with Petr Ostrouchov. Their 2019 album jednú te potkám earned six Anděl awards, and was critically acclaimed. This partnership continued with Noční obraz in 2021 and Vteřiny, měsíce a roky in 2023, the latter winning two Anděl awards including Album of the Year.
The Czech Nightingale gala will feature performances by Václav Noid Bárta with Dymytry, Monika Absolonová, Richard Krajčo, Ben Cristovao, Dara Rolins, O5 & Radeček, Čechomor, Lenka Dusilová, drupi, and Lucie. Marta Jandová, Milan Peroutka, and Felix Slováček Jr. will pay tribute to the late Anna Julia Slováčková.
Voting for the main categories – male singer,female singer,musical group,and hip hop & rap – concluded November 9th. The gala will also reveal the winner of the “Discovery of the Year” award, with nominees including Šimon Opp, Renne Dang, Mat213, and Jamaron.
Last year’s winners included Sofian Medjmedj (Discovery of the Year),Calin (Hip Hop & Rap),kabát (Group of the Year),Marek Ztracený (Singer of the Year),and Ewa Farna (Singer of the Year and Absolute Nightingale).
The Czech nightingale poll originated in 1962 as the “Golden Nightingale” organized by Mladý svět magazine. TV Nova currently owns the rights to the awards.
