hansi Flick Imposes Stricter Social Conduct Rules at Barcelona Ahead of Potential Marcus rashford Move
New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly introduced an eleventh rule to his managerial approach, focusing on player conduct outside of training and matches. This development comes amid speculation linking Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford to the Catalan club.
According to reports from Sport, Flick intends to adopt a more stringent stance on players engaging in social activities during their free time. This heightened scrutiny follows recent criticism directed at young player Lamine Yamal for his 18th birthday party. Flick’s objective is to encourage greater discretion in players’ social lives and to ensure their primary focus remains on football, a crucial element in their pursuit of retaining the La Liga title.
The new regulations are also expected to involve a reduction in club-sanctioned Christmas parties and closer monitoring of commercial engagements that could possibly interfere with the first team’s performance. Flick’s beliefs appears to stem from a belief that excessive involvement in marketing activities can lead to player distraction.
Marcus Rashford has previously faced scrutiny for his off-field conduct. In 2023, he issued an apology to then-Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after celebrating his birthday shortly after a significant derby defeat. Ten Hag had described the party as “unacceptable.” Furthermore, reports from The Athletic indicated that rashford attended a party in Belfast prior to an FA Cup fixture against Newport in early 2024, with the player subsequently missing training the following day. Ten Hag had stated that Rashford was unwell at the time, and the player has, at times, been perceived unfairly regarding such incidents.
