The Manchester-based team in The Hundred has been rebranded as the Manchester Super Giants ahead of the 2026 season.

The franchise enters a new era under the co-ownership of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG Group) and Lancashire Cricket. The team will continue to play its home fixtures at Emirates Old trafford. This rebrand aligns the Manchester franchise with RPSG Group’s portfolio, which includes the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and Durban’s Super Giants in SA20.

Alongside the new name, a restructured management team is in place. Tom Moody has been appointed Global Director of Cricket, overseeing performance strategy across all RPSG-owned teams. Justin langer is the new Men’s Head Coach, succeeding Simon Katich, while Matthew Mott takes over as Women’s Head Coach, replacing Michael Klinger.

The Manchester Super Giants have also announced their initial player pre-signings. For the men’s team, they’ve secured Jos Buttler, Heinrich Klaasen, Noor ahmad, and Liam Dawson. The women’s side features Meg Lanning, Smriti Mandhana, and Sophie Ecclestone.

Dr Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman of the RPSG Group and Owner of the Manchester Super Giants, said, “This is an exciting and important phase for us as we formally integrate the Manchester cricket franchise into the wider Super Giants family. It marks the beginning of a new chapter, grounded in ambition and long-term vision for the game in the UK.”

“We are equally pleased to confirm our initial group of pre-signings. We have secured two world-class batters and proven match-winners in Jos Buttler and Heinrich klaasen, alongside two outstanding spin options, Noor Ahmad, and Liam Dawson. For the women’s team, we have brought together an exceptional blend of experience and excellence, featuring meg Lanning, Smriti Mandhana, and Sophie Ecclestone.”

James Sheridan, Deputy Chair, Manchester Super Giants, added, “Today’s launch sets out our intent clearly. Manchester is one of the world’s great sporting cities, and our vision is to create a team that not only competes for titles but also delivers an amazing entertainment and sporting event. We aim to stand for inclusivity and long-term success, as we combine global expertise with local sporting passion and pride.”
