written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Thiruvananthapuram
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the people in the relief camps in Wayanad will be shifted to safe accommodation. To ensure temporary rehabilitation, 91 government quarters including 27 quarters under Public Works Department will be made available. A massive search will be conducted on Friday in Mundakai and Churalmala where the landslides occurred. The search will also include those who live in camps, relatives’ houses etc. Among the victims of the accident, those who are interested in participating in the research will be taken in vehicles to the places where there were still houses. The chief minister said in a press conference that they will be taken to the disaster area by security personnel.

Landslide areas were studied in six districts. This is a last ditch effort to see if anyone can be found using information from relatives, even after all avenues have been explored.

It is hoped that central assistance will be available to help and restore the families of the disaster victims. The Prime Minister, who is visiting Wayanad on Saturday, is expected to take a positive stand. A detailed letter was written to the Prime Minister in this regard the other day.

The disaster center has been asked to declare Wayanad as a national disaster and a major calamity. The Union Home Ministry has appointed a nine-member committee to investigate the severity of the accident and submit a report. Union joint home secretary Rajeev Kumar, his team leader, reached the prime minister’s office. Kerala needs a comprehensive rehabilitation package – said the Chief Minister.

The members of the cabinet sub-committee informed that the return will be from 6 in the morning to 11 in the afternoon due to the Prime Minister’s visit. 190 people have registered for this.
