Apart from Sai Sudarshan, Karnataka player Nikin Jose (53) who scored a half-century also shone in the Indian line-up.

Iran Seeks India’s Help in Building Cricket Stadium and Training Players

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 17, 2023

Tehran: Iran’s national team coach has requested India to help the country’s cricket. Iran Under-19 team coach Asghar Ali Raisi came forward with the request that BCCI should help in building the country’s first cricket stadium in Chabahar. Asghar Ali Raisi also requested BCCI to come forward to train Iran’s national players. In 2018, Iran got ICC recognition for Twenty20. He has also played international matches against UAE, Kuwait and Qatar teams.

Seeing the help provided by India for the growth of Afghanistan cricket, Iran has now sought India’s help. BCCI had released a cricket stadium in India for Afghanistan players to practice. Iran plans to build a 4,000-seat stadium in Chabahar. But due to the sanctions imposed by the US, the construction work of the stadium has been stopped.

“Iranian players have talent. But we are not able to train them because of lack of infrastructure. India should help us to build the stadium. BCCI should help in training the Iranian players and improve matters including umpiring. We are also hopeful that Iranian players will get a chance in IPL. M.S. The players in Iran are fans of Dhoni and Virat Kohli.”- Asghar Ali Raisi told news agency ANI.

India’s Dominant Win over West Indies in First Test Match

India’s Dominant Win over West Indies in First Test Match

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 16, 2023

Rousseau (Dominica) ∙ Defeat in the Test Championship final, demands from former players to change captain and coach, dismal performance by senior players – an authentic innings and 141-run win over the West Indies in the first Test will help Team India answer the questions and criticisms raised over the past few days.

Windies were not in the picture till the final session of the 3rd day. Score: West Indies 1st innings 150, 2nd innings 130. India declared 421 for 5 in 1st innings. Opener Yashaswi Jaiswal (171) who scored a century on his Test debut was the Player of the Match.

Spin Win

R.Ashwin’s performance in the first Test was an answer to the selectors who failed in the final of the Test Championship. Ashwin took 12 wickets in two innings. Ashwin-Ravindra Jadeja spin pair took 17 wickets in the match.

Batting on

Indian captain Rohit Sharma (103) and senior player Virat Kohli (76), who have been struggling to find form in Test cricket for some time, will be a relief for India. Yashaswi Jaiswal has almost cemented his place in the team with a century on debut.

Windies fall

The West Indies players could not challenge India even at any stage of the match. In the first innings, when the West Indies were all out for 150 runs, India almost secured an innings victory. Alik Atanze’s 47 runs in the first innings was the highest score by a West Indies batsman in the match. Windies, who came to face India with young players who have not even played enough domestic matches, would not have expected a different result.

Indian spinner R.Ashwin has joined West Indies legend Malcolm Marshall in the record of most 5-wicket hauls (6 times) in India-West Indies Test matches.

Our bowlers bowled well. Yashaswi Jaiswal’s performance deserves a mention. Yashasvi batted without any pressure of debut. We believe that this excellence can be continued in the next Test too – Rohit Sharma (Indian captain)

We made mistakes with the bat. The score in the first innings was reversed. As a captain, I was not able to lead the team from the front. We lost wickets at all crucial times in the match. The senior players should have played a little more carefully. – Craig Brathwaite (West Indies Captain)

MCC Recommends Phasing Out ODI Cricket After 2027

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 14, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

London – The Marlyban Cricket Club (MCC), the law makers of cricket, is ready to phase out ODI cricket. The MCC has suggested reducing the number of ODI matches after the 2027 ODI World Cup. The decision was taken at the MCC’s 13-member World Cricket Committee (WCC) meeting held at Lord’s in England recently. The MCC has suggested that bilateral series should be avoided except in the years immediately preceding each World Cup. The panel’s recommendation is in view of the proliferation of Twenty20 domestic franchise leagues across the globe.

“The committee questioned the relevance of men’s international one-day internationals apart from the ICC World Cup and recommended a significant reduction in one-day internationals after the 2027 ICC Men’s World Cup,” the MCC said in a statement posted on its website. It is estimated that by reducing ODI cricket, the standard of cricket will increase and get more time in global cricket. At the same time, it is also suggested that more financial assistance should be given to keep Test cricket and women’s cricket active.

“Many countries have complained that they cannot afford to host men’s Test cricket. Information on the cost to member states of hosting Test matches is not available at this time. Hence, the ICC has been instructed to conduct a test match financial audit to get clarity on this. Doing so will help identify countries in need of aid. The issues can be resolved through a special Test Fund established to protect the sanctity of Test cricket.”

The committee discussed how to grow and strengthen women’s cricket globally. The MCC suggested that only countries that invest equally in men’s and women’s cricket teams and countries that have a national women’s team should be eligible for full membership in the ICC.
