Amsterdam, Netherlands – Passenger numbers at Dutch airports rose in the frist quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to newly released figures.While all five Dutch airports reported increased flight activity, overall passenger volume grew by 3.1 percent, reaching 17.9 million travelers. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport continues to be the largest airport in the Netherlands, handling 87 percent of all flights within the country. The airport also reported an increase in flight activity during the last quarter compared to the previous year.
Schiphol is not only a key hub for the Netherlands but also ranks among the busiest airports in the European Union. In 2023, the airport facilitated travel for 66.8 million passengers, placing it second only to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, which saw 70.3 million travelers.

Lisbon Airport Reports 22 Percent Surge
The most significant increase in passenger numbers was observed at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, Portugal. The airport welcomed 33.6 million travelers in 2023, a figure that jumped to 41 million in 2024 – a remarkable 22 percent increase. This growth suggests Lisbon is becoming an increasingly popular destination and transit point for international travelers.
