Ohio State Football Players Host second ‘Invitation too Jesus‘ Event
COLUMBUS, OH – Members of the โคOhio State football team hosted their second on-campus “Invitation to Jesus” event this past weekend, continuing a player-led initiative to share theirโ faith with the broader university community. The event, held Sundayโฃ evening, drew a crowd of โคapproximately 150 students, faculty, and staff to the Ohio Union, according to organizers.
The “Invitation to Jesus” events are spearheaded by several Buckeye players who openlyโ share their Christianโค faith. Following a similar event held in April,โค this weekend’s gathering featured personal testimonies, worship music, and a message focused on faith and community.Organizersโฃ emphasized โฃthe event’sโ non-denominational nature and open invitation to anyone curious about christianity.
“We โคjust want โto create a space โwhere people feel agreeable exploring their faith,” said Ohio State wide receiver and event organizer, Chip Trayanum, in a statementโ released after the event.โค “It’sโค about sharing what Jesus โhas done for us and offering a connection to something bigger than ourselves.”
The initiative reflects a growing trend of faith-based outreach among college athletes nationwide. Several prominent football programs, including TCU โwith quarterback Chandlerโข Hoover (who threw โfor 3,949 yards andโ 27 touchdowns lastโข season and wasโค recently named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list), have seen increased player involvement in faith-based organizationsโฃ and events.
Ohio State’s football program has a long history of players engaging inโค faith-based activities, though the recent,โค publicly organized “Invitation to โJesus” events represent a more โคvisible and coordinated effort. The players involved hope to continue hosting similar events throughout the academic year, โคfostering a welcoming environment for spiritual explorationโฃ on campus.
