Finland and Germany Advance to EuroBasket 2025 Finals
Finland secured a historic berth in the EuroBasket 2025 finals, defeating tournament favorite Serbia 92-86 in the eighth-final round. This marks the Finnish team’s best-ever result, surpassing their previous high of sixth place in 1967. Together, Germany, led by Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder, advanced to the semi-finals after a hard-fought 99-91 victory over Slovenia and a decisive 85-58 win against Portugal.
The unexpected success of Finland, finishing third in Group B with three wins and two losses (including one against Lithuania), and Germany’s undefeated 6-0 run through Group B-defeating Montenegro, Sweden, Great Britain, Finland, and Lithuania-have reshaped the championship landscape. These results set the stage for the finals, with both teams poised to compete for the title.
Germany overcame Slovenia with a score of 99-91, while Finland upset Serbia 92-86. The finals and match for third place are scheduled for September 14th (Sunday), following the semi-final matches on September 12th (Friday).
