Syracuse, N.Y. – Central Newโ York is set for a significant warm-upโค this weekend, with temperatures climbing well above seasonal โขaverages.โข Though, the pleasant conditions willโ be followed by strong โwinds and a risk of severe thunderstorms and flooding.
Today, a warm front will โmove through the region, bringing mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of isolated showers between 2 and 4 PM. Temperatures will start in the mid-40s this morning, rising to the upper 60s byโ afternoon. Overnight lows will remain mild,dipping only into โฃthe mid-50s.
sunday will โฃbe considerablyโ warmer, with highs expectedโฃ to โreach the โupper 70s โข- approximatelyโค 20 degreesโฃ above normal. โขHowever, a strong low-pressure system approaching from the southwest โwill also bring increasing โขwinds.
Sustained south winds of 20-30 mphโฃ are forecast, with gusts potentially reaching 40 โคmph,โค beginning โฃlate Sunday morning and continuing throughout the day. These wind speeds meet the criteria for Wind Advisories,which may be issued.
Later Sunday evening, between 7 and 10 PM, a line of thunderstorms is expected to sweep across CNY fromโ west to east. The primary threat from these storms will be damaging wind gusts. Following the initial line of storms, heavy and steady rain will continue overnight into Monday, raising concerns about potential flooding.
