Dodgers Fans Flood L.A. Streets in Championship Party

LOS ANGELES – Thousands of Los Angeles Dodgers fans lined city streets Monday to celebrate the team’s recent championship victory, offering a moment of unity and joy for a region navigating a ⁢challenging year. The parade route was filled with supporters eager to honor the players ‍and share in the collective excitement.

The outpouring of enthusiasm underscored⁢ the Dodgers’ significance to the city, providing‍ a much-needed boost following a series ⁤of hardships. In January, Southern California was ravaged by wind-driven firestorms that destroyed thousands of homes. Later in‌ the‌ summer, increased immigration enforcement by the Trump administration specifically targeted Los Angeles, adding to the region’s anxieties. The‌ Dodgers’ ⁤success offered a welcome respite.

Mark Krojansky,⁤ sporting knee-high Dodgers socks, expressed his delight, noting his⁤ children had ⁤already witnessed three ‍Dodger championships. He recounted waiting three decades between the 1988 win and 2020, stating it was “well worth‌ it.” “This could ‍be the only time for⁤ many, many years, you never know,” Krojansky said. “We deserve it.”

The championship has been a source of positivity during a difficult period, according to San Bernardino resident Carlos Soto. “I definitely feel the city needs a lift,”⁤ Soto said. “It is indeed something that brings the ‍community together across nationalities and political ⁢lines and unites everybody – it’s something that’s very needed.”

Longtime Dodgers fan Chuck Berez emphasized the team’s resilience, stating, “they stick together. ⁣… You got to weather the storm and look at the big picture. The way they came through in the clutch, you know, just‌ showing you⁢ their ⁢resilience and their‌ experience.”

Even ⁤those new to Los Angeles embraced ⁢the celebratory atmosphere. Aaron Wole, a hospital worker originally from Florida, ⁤donned an⁤ Ohtani jersey, acknowledging, “when ⁣in Rome, you got to do as the Romans.… This doesn’t happen⁢ much in Florida.” He added, “In moments like these, you feel included in the community. it really feels like‌ a great atmosphere with all these fans.”

Times staff ⁣writer Jack Harris contributed to this report.

Dodgers Repeat as World ⁤Series ⁢Champions, Sparking National Celebration in Japan

TOKYO – The ⁤Los Angeles Dodgers clinched their second consecutive World Series title Wednesday, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in a dramatic Game ⁣7 victory that ignited jubilant celebrations across Japan.⁢ The win, fueled by stellar performances from ⁣Japanese ‍stars Shohei Ohtani adn Yoshinobu Yamamoto, has been hailed as a moment of national pride.

the ⁤Dodgers’ championship run captivated a nation, with Games 1 and 2 averaging 10.7 ⁤million viewers in Japan, and Game⁢ 7 likely surpassing that figure. Fans followed every pitch, even ‌those ⁣working late shifts or on delivery routes, ⁢drawn to the historic season and the contributions of⁢ their countrymen. This year’s series was particularly memorable for its length and intensity, including⁢ an 18-inning marathon game and a nail-biting 3-1 victory for the ⁤Dodgers in Game 6 that forced the decisive final match in Toronto.

Yamamoto emerged as the Series MVP, delivering a rare complete game in Game 2 and then securing wins in both Games 6 and 7 with back-to-back gutsy performances. Ohtani,⁢ already a beloved figure in Japan as his amateur career, continued to inspire with his remarkable two-way prowess as⁤ one of baseball’s premier hitters and pitchers.⁣

Beyond their athletic achievements, both‌ players are admired for their character. Ohtani⁤ is known for his unpretentious demeanor and ‌consistent acknowledgment of his Japanese heritage, often conducting interviews in Japanese and directly addressing his fans. Yamamoto’s clutch pitching throughout the series solidified his status as a‌ national hero.

The Dodgers’ success has even reached the highest levels of Japanese government. Prime minister Sanae Takaichi reportedly watched‌ portions of Game 7 with U.S. President Donald Trump, excitedly announcing, “The Dodgers are winning.”

The impact⁣ extends beyond the field.⁢ ohtani’s family, including wife Mamiko – a former professional basketball player – and their dog, Decoy, have become ‌media sensations, with the recent ⁢birth of ⁢their daughter generating widespread excitement. Ohtani’s image is ubiquitous in Japan, appearing in advertisements for a wide range of products, from sneakers to cosmetics.

“But to be honest I like the Dodgers because they‍ have Japanese players,” said Kowa Minami, a waiter at the Hub restaurant in Tokyo, which ⁣hosted a public ⁤viewing of the game. The Dodgers’ victory represents ⁤more than just a championship; it’s a source⁤ of national unity and pride for a ⁤baseball-loving nation.

The Dodgers secured their⁣ win, becoming the 14th team to win back-to-back World Series, and the first since the⁤ New York Yankees’ three-peat from ‌1998-2000.

Celebrations began immediately after the final out in‍ Toronto, with fans flooding the streets of Los Angeles, notably ‌along Atlantic Boulevard in East ⁣LA. Clayton Kershaw Wins World Series, Initially Unaware at End of Career

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor November 2, 2025

Dodgers Legend Clayton Kershaw Retires Unaware⁢ He’d Just ‌Won Another world⁤ Series

LOS ANGELES – Clayton Kershaw,‍ the ⁢Los Angeles Dodgers’ ‍all-time great pitcher, ⁣retired a champion – and didn’t realize⁤ it at first. Following the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series victory over the Toronto Blue ‌Jays, Kershaw closed out the final⁢ game of his illustrious ‍15-year career, unaware it was the last pitch he’d ever throw and that it secured another championship.

“Of ⁢the World Series in the⁣ last game I ever ‍played. You can’t script that. You can’t write it ⁤up. Even if I was⁢ not throwing 88 (mph),I still would be done. It’s just the perfect⁢ way too end it,” kershaw said.

The three-time Cy Young⁤ Award winner made a clutch appearance out of⁢ the bullpen⁤ in the 12th inning of Game 3, a ‍6-5 victory⁤ that stretched‍ 18 tense ‍innings. “You can’t script ⁢that, either. ⁣I’m thankful to get out there and ⁣get that last out,” he said. “That’s so cool.”

Kershaw dominated the⁣ National League from ‍2010-15,leading in ERA⁣ five times, strikeouts three times, and wins twice. He joins Dodgers legends Sandy Koufax,‍ Don ⁤Drysdale, ⁣Don Newcombe, and Fernando Valenzuela ⁢as franchise icons.

His 2014 season was historically dominant, finishing 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA and 233⁤ strikeouts, earning⁢ both the Cy Young and National League Most Valuable ‍Player awards. Kershaw modeled his‌ pitching mechanics‍ after childhood favorite Roger ⁤Clemens, developing a style‌ reliant on deception, movement, and velocity changes.

An 11-time All-Star, Kershaw is tied with Zack Wheat and Bill Russell ⁤for the most years played with the Dodgers. He previously won⁣ World Series⁤ championships in 2020 and 2024.

Throughout his ‍career, Kershaw amassed a 222-96 record with 15 shutouts, the most among active major leaguers. he threw his only no-hitter in ‍June⁤ 2014 against Colorado.

Kershaw’s career ‌2.54 ERA is the lowest of any pitcher in the⁣ live-ball era since 1920, and his winning percentage‍ is‍ the highest among pitchers with at least 200 victories since 1900.

Dodgers President of Baseball ‍Operations Andrew‍ Friedman has⁢ offered Kershaw a future role with the ⁤organization. “He ‌mentioned something where I can hang out,” Kershaw said. “I don’t know what that looks like, but this is a special ⁢organization and they don’t need me to win World Series – that’s obvious. But if there’s anything ⁢that I can do ‍in the future‌ to⁢ be a part of it, I hope that’s⁣ the case.”

Dodgers’ Friedman Defends Team’s Spending, Focus on Fans

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor November 1, 2025

Dodgers‘ Andrew Friedman Defends Team Spending Amid ‘Ruining Baseball’ criticism

Los Angeles Dodgers President of Baseball ⁢Operations Andrew Friedman addressed ⁣concerns that the team’s substantial financial investments are harming competitive ⁤balance in Major League Baseball, stating the organization’s primary focus is rewarding‌ its passionate fanbase. The⁤ comments come ahead of Game 6 of the World Series, following a season where the Dodgers again reached the championship series despite challenges⁤ with their high-priced roster.

The Dodgers’ payroll is the highest in MLB, leading to criticism that their spending is detrimental ⁤to the league’s overall competitiveness. After winning the 2024 World Series, the team embarked on a‍ free agent spending spree aimed at building a dynasty.

“Yeah, I mean, for us, it is indeed all about our unbelievable fans and us giving back,” Friedman⁢ said. “What⁢ they bring night-in and night-out, the passion that they⁤ show for the Dodgers — ⁤now, this is my 11th season and even on the road, the⁤ number‍ of Dodger fans that are ther and just the love that they have for this team, our job is to pour ourselves back into it and try to give them a team⁢ that can compete ⁤for championships, and that they can be proud of.”

Friedman emphasized the team’s commitment to its supporters. “Everything for us is about‌ pouring back into our fans and that partnership that we have with them. So, you know, that’s ⁢our focus. Anything else that comes from⁢ it — ⁢and ⁢obviously,I’ve heard a lot of it — it’s just‍ not front‌ of mind⁣ for us⁤ as everything is around how do we‍ put ourselves in⁢ the best ‌position to win now and also to win in the future.”

Despite notable investment, the Dodgers have faced setbacks this postseason, with several key free-agent acquisitions either injured or underperforming. This mirrors a league-wide ‍trend,⁢ as the New York Mets, another high-spending team, failed to reach the playoffs, while the Milwaukee Brewers, a team with a⁤ lower payroll,‌ secured the best record in the National League.

Dodgers Stun Blue Jays with Game-Ending Double Play in World Series Thriller

Dodgers Force Decisive Game 7 in World Series with 3-1 Victory⁤ Over Blue Jays

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Los Angeles Dodgers are heading to a winner-take-all game 7‌ after⁢ a resilient 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in ‍Game 6 of ‌the World Series on Tuesday night. Yoshinobu ⁣Yamamoto continued his dominant postseason run, and a clutch hit from Mookie Betts propelled the Dodgers to the brink of thier first championship since 2020.

This result sets the stage for a dramatic ⁤conclusion to the series, with the ‍Dodgers and Blue Jays set to battle for the title in Game 7. The Dodgers, seeking their third championship in seven seasons, will send max Scherzer ⁢to the mound, while the Blue Jays will⁤ counter with Kevin Gausman. The winner will be crowned World Series ⁣champions, ⁣capping off a captivating postseason.

Yamamoto improved to 4-1⁤ with a 1.56 ERA in ⁤five postseason starts, boasting a 1.20 ERA in his two Series outings. He navigated a tight game, supported by ‌strong relief pitching from Brusdar Graterol,‌ who struck out Giménez ⁤to strand a runner in the seventh, and Yusei Kikuchi, who ‌escaped a two-on, one-out jam in the eighth thanks to a foul out by Bo Bichette and a groundout from⁢ Daulton Varsho.

The Dodgers broke a scoreless tie in the third inning. Tommy Edman doubled with one out, and Ohtani was intentionally walked for the fifth time in the Series. Smith‌ then hit an RBI double off the left-field wall on a high splitter, followed by a walk to Freeman, bringing up Betts.

Betts, who had been moved down in the batting order to fourth in Game 6 after previously hitting second and then third in Game 5, delivered a crucial two-run single between shortstop and third base, extending the dodgers’ ⁣lead to 3-0. The hit ended an 0-for-13 slump with⁤ the bases loaded for the Dodgers dating back to the Division Series.

“He could ⁢hit‌ me seventh, I don’t care. I just want to win,”‍ saeid Betts,a three-time champion. “Whatever we do,however we get there,I’ll jump on whoever’s back to go.We all get a ring, that’s all I care ‌about.”

The game also⁣ featured the first game-ending double play in world Series history in which an outfielder had a putout or assist, according to the Elias sports Bureau.

Scherzer will become the fourth pitcher to start multiple World Series winner-take-all⁣ Game 7s, joining Bob‌ Gibson, Lew Burdette, and Don larsen. He previously allowed two runs over five innings for Washington against Houston in 2019, with the Nationals ultimately winning 6-2.
