Liverpool Injury News: Isak, Endo & Frimpong Updates

Liverpool’s injury list remains a concern as the team prepares to face Nottingham Forest on February 22nd, following their 3-0 FA Cup win against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. Several key players are currently sidelined, impacting manager Arne Slot’s squad selection.

Alexander Isak, the Liverpool striker, is making progress in his recovery from an ankle injury and a fractured fibula sustained in December. He has been photographed undertaking light ball work at the AXA Training Centre, signaling a step forward in his rehabilitation. While a precise return date remains uncertain, there is optimism he could feature again in March or April.

Midfielder Wataru Endo suffered an ankle injury during the Premier League match against Sunderland on February 11th. The severity of the injury is still being assessed, but Slot indicated on Friday that Endo will be out for a “quite a long time.” Slot likewise highlighted the vulnerability of his squad in the number six position and at centre-back should further injuries occur.

Jeremie Frimpong continues to recover from a thigh injury picked up during Liverpool’s Champions League victory over Qarabag last month. The right-back is expected to be out for “a few weeks,” potentially making him available for the match against Nottingham Forest.

Longer-term absentees include Giovanni Leoni, who sustained an ACL injury during his Liverpool debut in September. He is not expected to return to action until the start of preseason training in July. Conor Bradley is also facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury in January during a draw with Arsenal, with a similar return timeframe to Leoni.

Despite these absences, Liverpool secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Brighton in the FA Cup, with goals from Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Mohamed Salah. The team will now turn its attention to the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, hoping to welcome back some of its injured players in the coming weeks.
