Justin Baldoni Shared Texts with Rainn Wilson Detailing Confrontation with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
Newly unsealed court documents reveal It Ends With Us director Justin baldoni texted actor Rainn Wilson following a January 2024 confrontation with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, detailing his account of the exchange. The texts, obtained by People on November 13, stem from the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios and Lively, who alleges the studio misrepresented the film’s success.
According to Baldoni’s message to Wilson, Reynolds “was talking to me like a five-year-old and scolding me.” Baldoni claims Reynolds and Lively asserted that he and producing partner Jamey Heath “are not who we claimed to be” and that their podcast, Man Enough, creates a false sense of safety for listeners. “They essentially said that Jamey [Heath] and I are not who we claimed to be and that for us to have a podcast is unsafe because it makes people feel like we are safe,” Baldoni wrote. Reynolds and lively reportedly believe Baldoni’s discussions of masculinity on the podcast lead people to perceive him as trustworthy.
It remains unclear if Wilson will be involved in the trial, scheduled for March 2026,as his responses to Baldoni’s texts were not included in the released documents. The lawsuit originated from Lively’s claims that Wayfarer studios misrepresented the film’s performance to boost its profile, a claim Baldoni and Heath have defended. Despite initial opportunities to amend the defamation case, they chose not to, signaling a continued path toward litigation.
