Tiffin, Ohio – A quadruple shooting in Tiffin, Ohio, on Thursday left two children and their father dead, with police investigating the incident as a homicide/suicide. The deceased father has been identified as Ryan Eagon, 42.
According to a statement from the Tiffin Police Department, the shooting occurred as the children’s mother was attempting to move belongings from the residence following reported ongoing domestic issues. Arrangements had been made with the mother’s partner, the father of her oldest child, to assist with the move while Eagon was believed to be out of town.
Police stated that the mother and her partner were inside gathering items while the children were outside near a vehicle. After hearing the 7-year-old child cry out,they went to investigate and observed Eagon in the driveway.
eagon then chased and fired multiple shots at the mother’s partner, “pushing past the mother,” before turning the gun on the children, fatally shooting both. He then directed additional gunfire at the partner before taking his own life with a single gunshot wound.
The mother carried the injured children back inside the home and dialed 911.
Tiffin police Chief David Pauly released a statement asking the public to pray for the victims and first-responders. ”As a community, we are not accustomed to events of this horrific and heartbreaking nature in Tiffin,” Pauly wrote. “I ask that all residents keep the victims’ families in their thoughts as they face unimaginable loss.”
The case remains under examination as of Friday.
