The Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (ADSB) of Lassay-les-Châteaux and surrounding communities held its general assembly on Friday, February 27th, under the presidency of Dr. Romuald Chan Hon Tong.
During 2025, the association hosted six blood drives, including one at the Lactalis plant in Charchigné, welcoming 275 individuals and collecting 245 units of blood. Twenty-one new donors participated. While this represents a decrease in donor numbers compared to 2024 – which saw 338 candidates and 296 donations across seven collection events – the higher number of collections in the previous year accounts for the difference, according to reports.
Treasurer presented a nearly balanced financial statement, reporting a deficit of €23.66 for 2025. The association’s primary source of revenue is its annual mussel-and-fries dinner, scheduled for Sunday, September 13th, 2026, at Le Horps. Blood drive dates for 2026 are currently scheduled for March 11th, May 13th, July 29th, October 28th, and December 23rd.
Laurence Gérard, the association’s first vice-president, expressed concern about the timing of two scheduled dates. “The dates for May 13th, the day before Ascension Day, and December 23rd do not seem remarkably favorable,” she stated. “But, the schedule is determined by the French Blood Establishment for the various territories; we do not choose it.”
With the exception of Martine Dujarrier, the secretary, all members of the outgoing board were re-elected. Catherine Legentil has joined the board. The contribution of Martine Dujarier was specifically acknowledged, and she was presented with a lemon tree as a token of appreciation.
At the close of 2025, four individuals received the bronze diploma for 25 blood donations. The silver diploma, awarded for 45 donations for women and 75 for men, was presented to Annie Blin and Philippe Foucher. No gold diplomas were awarded this year; that level requires 60 donations for women and 100 for men.
Laurence Gérard, who also serves as deputy treasurer for the Departmental Union of Voluntary Blood Donors, reported a positive start to the year. “We are experiencing a very quality start to the year, with 17 days of regional blood supply, without distinction between blood groups; they are represented homogeneously among the stocks.”
