Kerrionโ Franklin posted on Instagram โฃthat the scars areโฃ evidence ofโ abuse dating backโ to frist grade, writing, “These scars all overโฃ my backโฃ areโฃ notโ sex storiesโฆ beingโ beat black and blue as 1st grade.” He โขstated that pain, ratherโฃ then laughter, characterized โขmany of his earliest memories.
He described the adults responsible asโ having “enjoyed expressing โrotten Rage โฃinโ many ways โฃasโค (punishment/Consequence)” and noted a lack of compassion. The post indicated the โฃabuse involved multiple caregivers while his โฃparents were occupied, with Kerrion stating, “These โฃscars โareโข the only memories I โขhave of myโ childhood.”
In a statement from โ2021, Kirk Franklin publicly denied any physical abuse, saying, “there hasn’tโ beenโ any โคphysical abuse.” He apologized that same year for a profanity-ladenโ recording that leaked, in which he appeared to threaten โhisโ son.
Kerrion Franklin told interviewer Larry Reid in 2021 that, as aโ child, โhe was often left in the care of โothersโฃ while his father focused on โคhis career. He explained, “As a kid, right? โMy dad was focused onโค becoming his best selfโฆ so I wasโ babysat by a lot โฃof peopleโฆ and that kindโข of putโ me in someโฆ unfortunate, roughโ situations.”
The Instagram post has generatedโ controversy, with some fans expressing disbelief andโ others calling for professional help. Kirk Franklin has since emphasizedโ his love for Kerrion in โฃinterviews, describing their relationship โas a process of misunderstanding and healing.
Neither Kirk nor Kerrion Franklin has โฃreleased self-reliant documentation, such as medical โคrecords, for public review. Experts in โchildโ welfare noteโ that social media claims canโฃ prompt investigations, but legal proof is typically required.
