Indonesianโฃ Fried Chickenโ Market Faces โTurbulence: Texas Chicken Rebrands Amidst Losses โฃfor CSMI and KFC
Jakarta,โ Indonesia – Indonesia’s fast-food fried chicken โsector is undergoingโข significant shifts, with both Texas โChicken operator โCSMI and โคKFCโ Indonesia reporting financial challenges and workforce reductions in teh first half of 2025.Thes developments signal aโ competitive battle for market share in a keyโข Southeast Asian economy.
CSMI, โthe company behind the Texasโ Chicken franchise, experienced a dramatic drop in sales, recording IDR 815.83โข billion in the first โhalf of 2025,โ downโฃ from โIDR 1.45 trillion in the same period ofโค 2024. The company posted a gross profit of IDR 484.96 billion with a โคcost of goods sold of IDR 330.86 billion. As of June 30, 2025,โฃ CSMI โฃreported total โliabilities โคof IDR 51.64 โฃtrillionโข and โtotal equity of IDR 4.59 trillion, โwithโฃ total assets at IDR 56.24โค trillion.
Facing these difficulties, CSMIโ shareholders voted in February 2024โ toโฃ close all Texas Chicken outlets and rebrandโค under the name NWS Chicken. Management stated in its financial report โขthat as of June 30,โค 2025, the company employed 24 contract workers. Theโ rebranding aims forโข a more flexible โฃproduct concept adaptableโ to local consumer preferences, according โฃto a July 24, 2025, publicโข expose material.
