Paraffin Prices Rise โขinโ Chile, Ending Two-Week Decline
Santiago, Chile – After a two-week period of decreasing prices,โ paraffin โ(kerosene) in Chile willโข see aโฃ price โคincrease of 3.6 pesos per liter, effective Thursday, โSeptember 4th, accordingโฃ toโข a recent report from ENAP, the national oil company. This marks a reversal in the downward trend observed in recent weeks, with previous drops of 8.9 pesos per liter on August 28th and 23.2 pesos per liter on August 21st.
The price adjustment impacts households and industries โreliant on paraffin โฃfor โคheating โand other uses, notably as colder weather approaches.โ While gasoline โand diesel prices willโข remain stable until Wednesday, September 17thโค – coinciding with national holidays – the paraffin increase offers a snapshot โคof the fluctuating fuel market in Chile. Current average prices, as of Wednesday, show paraffin โฃcosting 1,133.3 pesos per liter inโ the northern zone, 1,075.5 pesos per โขliter in the central zone, 1,114.1 pesosโค per literโข in the southern zone,and โค1,087.5 pesos per liter in the Metropolitan region.
ENAP emphasized in its report that โit does not regulate fuel prices in theโ Chilean market, stating, “ENAP does not fix โขor โregulate fuel prices in the Chilean โmarket. Consequently, this report cannot, in โany case, to โคconsider that ENAP determines, fixes or defines references โor values โโfor the prices to the finalโค consumer, which are free given the status of open and competitive market.”
