Karuvannur Bank Fraud Scandal Shakes CPM: Enforcement Directorate Explanation Revealed

Thrissur ∙ CPM’s strength on the first day was A.C. Moithin’s explanation that no evidence was found in the raid conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at his house. However, with the press release of ED yesterday, this has lost its strength. The ED found that Moiteen asked the bank to give benami loans and CPM district leaders were also involved in this.

Leaders including minister R. Bindu, who is also the MLA of Karuvannur constituency, said that the entire investment in Karuvannur would be returned, but nothing has materialized. All those who believed and waited for the party are now speechless.

A.C. Moiteen MLA attended CPM district secretariat meeting yesterday and explained the action of ED. He informed the party committee that he told ED that he knew P. Satishkumar. Moiteen also attended the CPM constituency committee meeting in Kunnamkulam.

3 more leaders on ‘radar’

Thrissur ∙ Karuvannur case may spread to 3 top leaders of CPM. Apart from AC Moitin, the investigation may extend to a former district secretariat member, former area secretary and a senior leader. It is said that one of them was involved in the fraud and the other 2 were accomplices in the fraud. The ED may also look into the statement of one of the accused that the share of fraudulent money had reached the election fund of one of the top party leaders. Biju Karim and Kiran, the accused in the Karuvannur case, said that the former district secretariat member was involved in the fraud.

A loophole investigation

Thrissur ∙ Karuvannur Bank’s investigation team tried to collect as many statements and evidence as possible, even though they had already received statements about the role of AC Moiteen and others in the black money transaction in Karuvannur Bank. Over a hundred people were summoned to the office in Kochi during the year-long investigation. All those who had taken loans of more than 30 lakh rupees and were in suspicious surroundings were summoned. Moiteen, Rahim, Satish, Anil etc. were investigated after calling some of them up to 4 times and confirming their statements.

The ED initially started the investigation with the conclusion that there was money laundering along with fraud in the bank. The first information was that after passing loans of Rs 50 lakh each in false names, they invested in industrial enterprises in countries like China, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia. The investigation started in this led to fraud of crores and investments in benami names. It is reported that ED has collected all the documents of financial transactions of the accused along with digital evidence.

Thrissur ∙ CPM state committee member and ex-minister A.C. Moiteen MLA’s house was raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after which his 2 bank accounts worth Rs 31 lakh were frozen. It is learned that notice will be given to Moitin to appear for questioning.

2 fixed deposits of Moitin were frozen. ED has given time to deliver the documents regarding these. 2.88 lakh in 2016-17 income tax return, 3.98 lakh in 2017-18, 4.08 lakh in 2018-19 and 4.25 lakh in 2019-20 as investment. The total investment declared during the last election was 19.86 lakh, including 18.90 lakh rupees in Thiruvananthapuram Sub-treasury and 27,514 rupees in Bank of India. ED whether the current investment figures are consistent with that. Will check.

The ED raid on Moiteen’s house lasted for 22 hours. The investigation team arrived at 7.30 am on Tuesday and returned at 5.30 am yesterday. Moiteen confirmed that the gang took away bank passbooks, aadhaars and fixed deposit documents.

A.C. Moiteen’s house was raided by the ED team investigating the Rs 300 crore fraud committed in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank with the help of CPM leaders. Along with this, there was a raid on the house of 2 other people suspected to be related to Moiteen. Moiteen was reached from the statements of the accused who had been interrogated earlier.

ED noticed that there was an increase of 95 crore rupees in the deposit in Karuvannur Bank during the demonetisation period and it decreased several times in the following year. There are indications that this can also be found in the previous day’s raids.

The search was carried out at the home of Maharashtra native Anilkumar alias Subhash, who dealt in crores of rupees through Karuvannur Bank’s loan and loan schemes, and at the home of Kannur native Sateesan, who paid interest on interest, at his house in Kolazi. The inspection at both these places was completed late on Tuesday night. A 12-member team led by ED Additional Director Anand raided Moiteen’s house.

Kerala Leaders in Congress Working Committee: Tharoor, Chennithala, Suresh, and More

Kerala Leaders in Congress Working Committee: Tharoor, Chennithala, Suresh, and More

Thiruvananthapuram – Tharoor can now fully unleash the rebellious streak that has been attributed to him with parallel tours and so on. He can no longer be left behind in Kerala by labeling him as a leader who lacks the trust and confidence of the Congress national leadership. Seeing that he is also a member of the highest echelon of the party, Tharoor will have to be careful in his stances and reactions. He can no longer complain that the Congress has neglected him. The AICC decision is to keep Tharoor closer to the Congress as he had earlier believed that he would not be considered.

Although he had no objection to Tharoor coming to the working committee, Ramesh Chennithala is upset that his way through it was blocked. When Tharoor contested against Mallikarjun Kharge, Chennithala was one of Kharge’s chief campaigners at the national level. After losing the position of Leader of the Opposition, he feels pained that despite fulfilling all the duties assigned by the party, he did not reach the position he deserved. Centers related to Chennithala are also giving indications that they will report this to the central leadership.

However, the leaders informed him that the only reason for the inclusion of Tharoor and Venugopal was the limitation of including Chennithala as a third party. Chennithala’s election is seen by many as the first step in Congress’ return to national duties.

Kodikunnil Suresh is the first Dalit leader from Kerala to be invited to the working committee. Although he may be removed from the post of KPCC working president, Kodikunu’s influence in the state unit of the party will increase.

A.K. There were distant indications that Mullapally Ramachandran or MM Hasan might be considered for the national leadership if Antony and Oommen Chandy were to disappear from the working committee. With the decision to retain Anthony, such discussions also died down.

Controversial Leak: Kerala Film Awards Jury Member Accuses Chairman of Interference

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 6, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Controversial audio recording related to determination of state film awards has been released. This was included with the complaint filed by director Vinayan to the Chief Minister seeking an investigation. The words of Jury member Nemam Pushparaj are recorded in the voice recording saying that Film Academy Chairman Ranjith interfered in the decision of the award and felt self-loathing that this happened under the communist regime. The Chief Minister will decide whether to investigate Vinayan’s complaint. Another member of the jury, Jancy Gregory, had also openly said that Ranjith interfered in the decision of the award.

The allegation is that Ranjith told the jury members that the ’19th Century’ directed by Vinayan was rubbish and Ranjith tried to avoid the awards for this film.

Meanwhile, Minister Saji Cherian’s response is that the controversy is over. ‘No investigation has been announced against Ranjith. Left government in the state. I am the Minister of Culture. Chief Minister is Pinarayi Vijayan. No one can interfere in such a system according to their own interest. After that, it doesn’t matter if I sit in this chair’ – the minister said.

Nemam Pushparaj to Vinayan ‘Ranjith’s discussion during jury break’

Kochi – Nemam Pushparaj reveals to director Vinayan that Ranjith used to come to the discussion when the jury members of the film awards went for a break. When there was a proposal from the Academy Chairman to revise the awards given to the music director and the singer, the Jury Chairman Gautam Ghosh again called a meeting of the members. Jensi Gregory has taken the position that M. Jayachandran can be chosen as the best music director and Mridula Warrier as the singer. Pushparaj’s conversation gives an indication that Ranjith was displeased with this. Pushparaj says that after everything was decided and parted, Jency’s eyes filled with tears when they called a meeting again and decided to change the music award and then Gautam Ghosh announced that there would be no change in the award.

Ranjith told me not to trouble the jury by selecting trashy films like ’19th Century’ for the final round. When I was told that the costume and art of that film were excellent, Ranjith said that it was the art direction, not the set,’ says Pushparaj.
