Gauchos Fall to nevada, 77-64, Extending Losing Streak
RENO, Nevada – The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos suffered a 77-64 defeat at the hands of the Nevada Wolf Pack on Wednesday, marking their second consecutive loss. The setback drops UCSB to 3-2 on the season as they continue early-season play.
NevadaS victory snapped their own two-game losing streak, fueled by a dominant performance in key statistical categories. The Wolf Pack outshot the Gauchos 48% to 40% from the field, and capitalized on UCSB turnovers, scoring 24 points off of the Gauchos’ 15 giveaways. Nevada also controlled the boards, winning the rebounding battle 35-30, and dominated in fast break points, 26-6.
The game saw a decisive shift in momentum early in the second half, as Nevada opened with a 13-4 run to extend their 32-28 halftime lead.Corey Camper Jr. led all scorers with a career-high 27 points for the Wolf Pack (4-2).
Miro Little paced the Gauchos with 13 points, adding six rebounds and four assists. Hosana Kitenge contributed 12 points, while Aidan Mahaney added 10 points and four assists.
UCSB will look to rebound from this loss as they continue their road trip.The team will need to address their turnover issues and improve their shooting efficiency to regain their early-season form.
