HONG KONG – Hong Kong travel agencies are rapidly developingโค package tours aimed at mainland Chinese visitors eagerโข to experience the National Games, currently underway in โขa unique tripartite arrangement โwith Guangdong and Macau. Golf and rugby sevens are proving โฃto be particularly popularโ draws, as the city anticipates an influx of approximately 100,000 visitors for the โevent.
This โฃmarks the first time Hong kong has co-hosted the National Games,โ sharing responsibilities with neighboring Guangdong province and Macau. Local authorities are optimistic โabout the economic impact, with travel agenciesโ reporting a surge inโฃ interest from a demographic described as “moreโค mature” with significant โขspending power.
Timothy chuiโ Ting-pong,executive director of the Hong Kongโค tourism Association,noted thatโ tour groupsโค organized by his company areโ generally smaller in scale,catering to this higher-end market. “Some agencies, โincluding our own, are launching packages that combine attendance at โsporting โฃevents with broader โคcity experiences,”โ Chuiโค said.
