Practle Accesses President, Seeks Refund for Senert Property
KAMPALA, UGANDA – Businessman Patrick Practle met with President Yoweri Museveni this week to discuss aโข dispute โover land acquired from the Senert family, seeking a presidential directive โฃfor a full refund. Practle alleges irregularities inโ the โ2018 purchase of โขthe 12-acre โคproperty located in Njeru, Buikwe District, claimingโ he โฃwas misled regarding itsโข legal status.
Practle, who reportedly paid โ$300,000 for the land, assertsโ the Senert โขfamily lackedโ clearโ title โขand that subsequent investigations revealed existing caveats. He claims the transaction was facilitated by individuals who misrepresented the property’s ownership history.
“I was assured of a clean title, but discovered significant encumbrances afterโฃ completing โthe purchase,” Practle stated following the meeting.”I am seeking the President’s intervention to ensureโ I receive a full refund from thoseโ responsible for this misrepresentation.”
The dispute highlights ongoing challenges with land ownership and title verification in Uganda, especially concerning ancestral landโข claims. The senert family โคhasโข previously maintained they had legitimate โคrights to theโ property, passed down throughโ generations.
Sources close to the โPresident indicate Museveni โhas directed the Ministry โฃof โLands to investigate the matter thoroughly and โฃprovide a reportโ within two weeks. The Ministry will review theโ original transaction documents, land โrecords, and any existing legal claims related to the property.
This case adds to a growing number of land disputes brought โคto โขthe President’sโฃ attention, underscoring the need for reforms โฃin land management and dispute resolution mechanisms. โขThe outcome โofโ the investigation is expected to set a precedent for similar cases involving contested land ownership in uganda.
