Labor Pledges TassieDoc Expansion Ahead of July 19 Election
In a pre-election announcement, the Labor party has pledged to expand its TassieDoc initiative, a move met with criticism from the Liberal health spokesperson. Jacquie Petrusma described the announcement as a “last-ditch campaign con,” asserting that the Liberal government supports sustainable GP clinics and offers generous settlement allowances and viability grants to strengthen practices statewide. She also noted that GPs contracting clinical space are already exempt from payroll tax. A Liberal spokesperson confirmed the party would not be matching Labor’s expansion pledge. Tasmanians are scheduled to vote on July 19.
