Journalist Detained in Zulia Following Report on Road Damage
Cabimas, Venezuela – Journalist Josรฉ serna was detained Wednesday morning by officialsโ of the Municipal Police ofโ Cabimas (PoliCabimas) in theโฃ state of Zulia, according to reports from the National Union โฃof โPress Workers (SNTP). Officers arrived at Serna‘s workplace and took โฃhim into custody.
The SNTP, which initially reported the incident via social media, stated Serna was transferred to the PoliCabimas command in the Los Hornitos sector.
The union believes Serna’s arrest is connected to a video he published on โhis digital platforms highlighting a meaningful โขpothole on the Intercommunal avenue in Cabimas.
As of this reporting, no official statement has been released by the security forces regarding the reason for serna’s detention. Theโ SNTP is demanding respect for Serna’s rights, due process, and has condemned the alleged intimidation of journalistic work in the โคregion. Venezuela has faced ongoing concerns regarding pressโ freedom and the safety of journalists.
